I am so sad I missed this swap... I am due in Octoberish, and moving in a week... and finally am out of the first trimester so I feel better... and the crafting juices are out of control. Thankfully I will soon have MY VERY OWN CRAFTROOM!!!
Barbaloot-- I made the same gnome for a baby shower a couple weeks ago and it was a hit!! The only handmade item there!! And my 15 month old loved it so much, she fell asleep with it... while I was sewing the face on!! lol. I made her one of her own and she loves it... carries it everywhere. I just thought it was cute and diffferent for an infant, but older babies love em too! It is my new shower staple! Oh, and I might HAVE to make a sleep sack! So cute!
Everybody's everything is wonderful! I love the "my mom is so crafty..." onesie and the "my mom is a better quilter..." onesie.
Everything in this swap is wonderful! I am stalking for some good ideas for my farmer's market bag We are moving in a week (to farm country) so I really had no time to do this swap (my hubby forbade me knowing how stressed/busy I was going to be). But I will drool over everyone else's everything. I LOVE the overall-y apron, veggie tote, the recipe book, and the really pretty crocheted bag. *sigh* You are all so lucky!!
I buy a lot of produce at the grocery in the winter, and would like an alternative to the clear plastic bags you put the produce in. I like keeping produce organized, and I don't want something that weighs much. My husband hates it when I put produce in my cart, then on the belt and scale to be handled by the cashier. If anyone has some great ideas please let me know!
Everything is awesome! Annacharlotte, that lunch bag is stupendous!!! Did you insulate it with anything? Did you make the pattern up yourself? !b those bags are so beautiful!! And I see you got chocolate from Ten thousand villages... my mom is a manager of that store and their chocolate is THE BEST!!!! And their fair-trade principles are unsurpassed! PinkandDinky... I love that wall organizer you made! It is so gorgeous!
Annacharlotte, thanks for organizing such a great swap!! I had so much fun!
Ok I have some ideas! You could do a little scavenger egg hunt with clues from egg to egg and then have a "golden egg" with a little announcement or a hint towards a baby. Or you could have it end with a basket with an egg-shaped note for each person in it with their future names inside, "Congratulations, you are going to be a Grandma/Granpa/Aunt/Uncle!!" Or in the egg hunt, you could provide little clues in each egg about the baby eg. pastel blue-and-pink-wrapped candies, some Peeps (BABY birds), a candy pacifier (or ring pop), some of those little bottle candies (like the coke bottle gummies), some baby socks, some baby's breath, a tiny bottle of baby shampoo/soap, baby animal items (cut out pictures, etc), baby inspired buttons (like the baby-packs you can get at the craft store), a rubber ducky, a picture of a positive pregnancy test, a diaper pin, some pictures of babies or baby items, etc. You could tell everyone they can't open the eggs until the end and then to try and figure out what the clues mean. You could make it as easy or hard as you like. You can even put little baby puzzles inside (like baby-related word scrambles, or word searches). You could even get a puzzle with a picture of a baby on it or something, and put a piece in each egg and have them put the puzzle together at the end for the big surprise.
Whats funny as my hubby and I were going to try and wait another month to tell my family about baby number two... but I am already getting fat and now with your fun idea I might break the news this weekend!!! Let me know what you do or if you have any more fun ideas!!
I actually found the veggie pictures at Ikea on sale for like $1. They were perfect for quilted as she cooks vegetarian food. I have to admit, I honestly wanted to keep a few to frame and put on my wall. I actually have another one to send you for your collection quilted... of peas in a pod that I messed up on. I will try and send it sometime this week.
I love the pretty little dish towels!! Especially the cute froggy pair!! So cute!!! My mom used to use those silver sprinkles on her cookies when I was little. I always thought it was cool eating silver. I can't believe they still make them! Where do you find house shaped boxes? I want to decorate them too! Awesome package!
Finally, the large item: A wonderfully useful tote bag. Perfect for outings with a baby, and all her accessories, or just for shopping in small towns (my favorite pastime) or trips to the library or anything!! And it is baby proof! I think it is almost unbreakable!!! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l262/Elvinvelvet/IM000563.jpg
