It's my boyfriend's fathers birthday tomorrow and I'm in charge of the desserts for any family functions, so I decided to try making Boston cream cupcakes.
The Boston cream pie and Boston cream donut is a fave around his household so I figured they would appreciate these.
They are really easy to make, all you do is get a regular cake mix, I used french vanilla. Make the cupcakes how it says on the mix, when they are cooked wait for them to cool completely. Take a piping bag and fill it with custard, if they don't sell it at your grocery store you can use vanilla pie filling. Poke holes in the cupcakes with a knife and put the piping bag tip in the cupcake, squeeze the custard in. You'll know when you have a good amount in, you can feel the cupcake expand and you'll know to stop squeezing. Originally I was going to heat up the icing and dip the cupcakes in so it would be smooth, but I thought it would be good to pipe the icing on top. I just used a can of chocolate fudge icing. Add some cherries and there you go
p.s --I apologize in advance if I did this wrong, It's my first time posting and I sort of just guessed and hoped I was doing it right
