i thought to myself, oooh, i want one! So i came home after work tonight and whipped one up in under an hour out of some old material i had lying around. The tan houndstooth is some sort of stretchy wool type fabric and the purple feels like a cotton.
The next one i make i want to use just cotton to keep my head nice and cool. This is where I got the pattern http://www.flickr.com/photos/pandaface/278411178/(i eyeballed it from the photo since my printer isn't working). it was super easy and fast.
All spread out as you can see, i received a resin painted trinket box with stars on the top, a cool crochet skull paperweight which will go down with my craft patterns i think, a star coinpurse, two crochet bracelets, a crochet lipstick case with plastic shrinkies on it, a sweet cherry skull shrinky bracelet, a skull shrinky necklace, all packaged up in an awesome guitar bag with more shrinkies! *plays air guitar "widdly wahhh!"*
box closeup badass skull
closeup of some of the shrinkies (the demonlady shrinky is supposed to be on the backpack, however, she busted off in transit i believe. which is sad, but she is still awesome, so i'll figure out something cool to do with her.
So for christmas at Hot Topic (where i have a part time job) we decided to do a secret santa of less than $10 and i got my boss. we all put down what we liked on a sheet and under hers she had written NESSIE! so i was originally going to make her a bag with nessie on it, but that failed miserably, so then i went for what i do best: small and fuzzy. So here's her Nessie.
She freaked when she saw it, she loves it and i'm glad because i think she turned out pretty cute.
So I made these for a friend as a christmas present because she's gotten more and more into baking and cake decorating, and they looked a lot easier to make than they turned out to be. basically, they're a small circle of brown felt, with a piece of cardboard at the bottom, then a flared tube for the body of the cupcake, then i stuffed them, sewed a larger brown circle to the flared piece, then sewed the frosting on, then i sewed the little ridges and finally the beaded letters/ sprinkles. i was up very late the night before she was leaving to visit her family because i'm a huge procrastinator. i originally wanted to give them to her in a cupcake tin thingy but i didn't have the time.
So it turns out i'm pretty good at making these little guys. my friend kept saying how much she loved my red one and finally i took the hint and made her a green one for her moving to Madison present. She named him Ferdinand.
So my brother is in a Chemistry class in high school and for extra credit he could make a mole from a pattern his teacher gave him. get it, a mole is a unit of measurement in chemistry! hah. anyway, enough chem refresher. He said he wanted to make an anarchist mole (he's in this punk rock, anarchy phase right now, which i'm sure i went through, but then grew up a little, lol.) He was originally supposed to help me but in true teenage fashion, he was too busy and then ended up asking me for help the day before it was due. So i whipped this little guy up.
He's made from an old camo print t-shirt i used on one of my puppets and then some felt and fake leather. and a little bit of metal for the nose ring. personally, i like his little red converse.
I fell in love with this fabric at Joann's, and I've been wanting to spiff up my various surroundings so I made this pillowcase with Cherry print cotton fabric on one side and a fuzzy red fabric on the other.
there is a zipper on the bottom, not my best zipper job,
for some reason i just couldn't figure it out how to sew the zipper on and still have a 1/2 inch seam on that whole side. It was originally made for my boyfriend's couch which was nasty and the pillows were gross (they were a hand me down from his not so hygenic friend) but then we dumped the couch when he moved into Chicago so now the pillow just sits on my bed.
An interesting thread to tell the truth. i personally love my hair, why? because of my bride of frankenstein streak. That's what I was going for last year when i started this fiasco, since then, i've cut it, re-dyed the bangs and had a bunch of the bleached part fall out, lol. here it is as it stands now.
this is crazy late, but i've been pretty lazy for a while. This year I went as a bunny art doll, i was going to do marionette but i changed my mind at the last minute. only the hood is handmade, i'm still amazed i pulled it off, i was in that "crafting zone" where you are making something and all your attention is focused on it and then afterwards, you have no idea what you did, lol. anyway, here are some pics. the makeup is also my design.
Hey, after searching forever to find a garter belt i liked (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=125467.0) and i'm in new york, who thought it would be that difficult?) i finally decided to give this tutorial (a try and make a belt for my boyfriend's visit a few weekends ago. it went amazingly well, except for the fact that i f-ed up the grommets or whatever i bought was called. i think they were for belts, you put them through the hole and then hammer them down, and they got all wonky and i almost went insane trying to fix them, but i eventually figured it out. so here's my belt.
