1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Passing on the stencilling bug on: April 21, 2008 02:39:14 PM
to my smalls.
This is the shirt my 7 year old did - yes ok I did help her a lot with the cutting out but she did all the painting.

And my 13 year old decided after I'd done all the designing and cutting that she would like to do the painting.

It's good to know they're picking up on one of my good habits though Grin
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Covering my assets on: April 21, 2008 02:29:04 PM
I've had this idea bouncing around for a while and while I had all the stuff out making a shirt for my friends birthday I thought it was time for me to do a shirt for myself.

I apologise if it's the wrong way round, I have edited it so many times trying to get it straight that I now give up.

And this is the shirt I did for my friends birthday.

Thanks for looking Grin
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first ever baby hat on: March 26, 2008 07:29:18 PM
I was watching the tv while making the small peoples meal yesterday and I saw an appeal by Save The Children for baby hats.  Apparently 2 million babies die a year from pneumonia and the simple act of putting a hat on a newborns head can help...so of course I decided then and there that it was time I learnt to make a baby hat.
This is my first and I'm hoping to make quite a few more.

And while I'm sharing this is a wee bag that I made for a birthday present.  My youngest has been invited to a party this weekend and funds are low so I'm hoping that a pretty bag filled with candy will be ok.

Thanks for looking Smiley
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Yet more baby vests on: March 17, 2008 04:02:11 PM
I have a number of friends who are pregnant at the moment, I guess a lot of people stayed in over the winter eh?  Wink
Anyway one of the is definately having a wee girl and another friend will have a surprise in the delivery room as her baby won't share  Grin
As they're both due in a matter of weeks I thought I'd better get a move on and get some vests done.  So here they are.

On the same day I did some adult sized shirts but I can't share them just yet as they are for swaps and I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise  Roll Eyes
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / The Mighty Boosh on: January 26, 2008 04:28:28 PM
Now that my partner has received I can finally share with you all how pleased I am with these stencils.  As I couldn't find one single stencil anywhere for anything Boosh I had to make my own so I guess that's probably really why I'm so chuffed with myself.

First I took a photo of Vince/Noel and made this stencil placing it on the front of the shirt

then I decided that a reverse image would be cool for the back of the shirt.

In hindsight I'd probably have done them the other way round back on front and front on back but hey ho.

I also did these stencils on a bag, again making the stencils from photos.

Have I mentioned before how happy I am that I now have freezer paper Cheesy
Thanks for looking
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Handwarmers on: November 28, 2007 03:34:25 PM
Wee one asked me to knit up a pair of handwarmers for one of her friends.  I duly asked the friend to pick out the colour she wanted and last night I finally finished them up.  Wee one instantly ran over to her friends house to take them to her and on finding her not in was too excited to bring them home and wait to see her friend but gave them to the mum instead  Cheesy

Wee one did however wait long enough to model them for me so I could take a quick photo.

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Making stencils out of pictures on: October 20, 2007 10:18:27 AM
Now that all my swap partners have received I can safely share with you the things I have been working on.  All of these are stencils that I have made myself from artwork.
I am especially proud of the cassette one as it was the fiddliest stencil ever to cut.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / A scarf on: October 20, 2007 08:56:51 AM
This scarf took a good while to knit up as the wool is so bobbly and I totally overtightened when I cast off. But my Mum caught sight of it on her recent stay with us and remarked how lovely it was so it's now gone home with her and I also have new instructions on how to not overtighten when casting off Cheesy

Closer shot to show the wool.
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / A promise is a promise on: October 20, 2007 08:53:32 AM
My friend and I have a routine where I look after her two wee one's while she works and vice versa, anyway to cut a long story short her wee boy is mad for the 7 dwarves, or Hi Ho's as he calls them, and they were off to EuroDisney this last week.  So while I was looking after them over the summer holidays I made a deal with him, if he was a good boy for his mum I would make him a Hi Ho shirt to go to Disney in.
Now could I find a stencil anywhere? No.  So I had to do what any other stenciller would do and that's make one up myself.  So here we go.

One Dopey shirt.
And not to leave his big sister out.

Apparently the kids loved them and they must have worn them because their mum asked me for ironing instructions yesterday LOL
10  COOKING / Dessert / Tardis Birthday Cake on: October 12, 2007 03:15:54 PM
Unfortunately this cake wasn't bigger on the inside but it was well received and my youngest was thrilled with her very own Tardis cake and it tasted delicious.
Unfortunately I couldn't get the icing as blue as I had hoped.  No matter how much dye I added the icing refused to co-operate, it did however go a darker shade of blue than the photo implies.
