13  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Meet Molly *My first doll!* on: March 27, 2007 01:08:02 PM
This is my first time ever making a doll.  She's made from a free pattern here: http://missyballance.typepad.com/crafty_carnival/2007/02/free_doll_patte.html

My husband named her Molly, and I'm giving her to my neice for Easter. Cheesy

She's completely hand-sewn, including her dress.

Excuse the mess on the computer desk.. it's where I keep everything Cheesy

Comments and criticisms are welcome.  I'm new at this, so I'd like to get better.
14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Batik Sea Turtle *Own Pattern* on: March 25, 2007 03:31:11 PM
Hi!

I was at a loss for what to make today, and I wanted something unique, so I sat with some posterboard and designed a sea turtle. This is only the 3rd plushie I've ever made, so I'm really proud.

Then I was debating what to make it out of, and I really wasn't in the mood for using felt today, so I went with some gorgeous batiks.

I can scan in the pattern if anyone wants to use it, and I can post a photo tutorial on how I made it if anyone's interested.

The Pattern:

16  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / New House - Need New Ideas!! Help please!! on: March 18, 2007 11:11:18 AM
Hiya!

My husband and I will be moving into our own house in about another year (finally!!!) .. so I need to get crackin on things to make.

He absolutely adores anything classic video games, so I was thinking of doing a video game inspired decor.  If I can make enough things, that will save a lot on costs.

I've got 2 really really ugly end tables, an old computer desk, and 2 chairs right now.  The rest of the stuff for a house, I don't have.

Any ideas on:
~what to get
~what to make
~how to go about making?

I do:
Cross-Stitch
Embroidery
Sewing
Quilting
*BASIC* painting
some stencilling
and I can collage on anything.

Any and all help will be appreciated.
Do ya'll think the Video-Game inspired house is a good idea?

19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Light My Fire - Laptop Bag *img heavy* on: March 04, 2007 10:57:53 AM
Ok.. so my husband wanted a customized laptop bag for his birthday that could carry all of his necessities in it back and forth to work.  But, he wanted it so it was plain on the outside, and with a flame fabric on the inside.

My father is a huge boating person, and we have the extra heavy duty nylon and waterproof boating stuff, so I used that.

Ok.. before DH sees it:

With a 6 inch binder, a HP laptop and powercord:

And my first time ever doing a Zippered Pouch.  Underneath is an area for the power cord, and there are pen/pencil holders:

Any comments are appreciated!
20  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Black and White Log Cabin on: March 03, 2007 05:16:43 PM
My husbands grandmother is in her mid 90's, and she's almost blind.  I wanted to do something nice for her, and since she can only see huge contrasts in colors, I came up with an idea.

This is the final product:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/simplyelemental/IMG_0962.jpg

I'm super proud of it, and we think it'll be a stark enough contrast so that she can see it!

Any and all comments will be appreciated.

So everyone knows, it's been machine quilted in concentric squares. Cheesy
