1  Easter egg dye + fiber = the rainbow! in Dyeing: Completed Projects by maaaddhatterr on: March 24, 2008 05:27:20 AM
Alright ladies and gents. I have run into a handy number of forums lately suggesting easter egg dye as a fun way to dye fiber and seeing the results totally sucked me right in. The colors were so vibrant and cheerful, I had to give it a try. I divided my BFL roving I bought from helloyarn.com into 1 oz pieces for each tablet (6 tablets total) and let the magic happen~

The ziploc bag for the blue completely ripped and the purple and green were leaking so there were patches of blue in both but spun up, the green looks like turqoise which made me uber happy so that was a lucky accident ^_^

I used this tutorial http://blueeyedknits.blogspot.com/2008/01/from-zebra-stripe-gum-to-easter-egg.html

Oh yeah and did I mention the dye's 100% food grade safe?

Enjoy and don't forget, easter egg dye goes on sale after Easter *hint*

2  First attempts at spinning with a spindle in Spinning: Completed Projects by maaaddhatterr on: March 24, 2008 04:57:34 AM
Hey ya'll I'm still fairly new to spinning and only a couple months into it. It's branched off from knitting and I have to say spinning is my new passion! I made myself a top spindle and wanted to show you guys my first few attempts. Bear in mind, they're not gorgeous but please be gentle. Enjoy and thanks for looking =)

I call this one Peachy Keen 22 grams/.8 oz of unknown wool

Cherry Bomb 32 grams/1.1 oz of unknown wool

Grassy Daze 67 grams/2.4 oz of a Corriedale x Colombian wool

Finally, Junky Funky 83 grams/ 2.9 oz of a Corriedale x Colombian wool. This one's my favorite of the bunch but this looked fUgly as a hank hence its name but seeing how pretty it is now and knit up, I feel I should change the name. Any suggestions?
