1  King Koopa Needlepoint in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: September 20, 2009 08:46:21 PM
I hung this up in the bookstore where I work, near the video game section:

It took around 50 hours to complete (I think).   I stitch the backgrounds as well, so that tacks on hours like none other.

2  How funky is your chicken? in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: May 06, 2009 08:27:17 PM
This is from one of the dragon quest games, my roommate requested it specifically:

Some one usually asks what kind of fabric I stitched it on, but I don't stitch on fabric.   I use 14 pt plastic canvas and stitch the background myself.   It takes forever but I like the effect.   Here's a WIP shot so you can see what I mean:

3  Re: Another Dragon Quest Needlepoint in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: March 14, 2009 10:33:58 PM
Thanks, guys.   They're not actually stitched on fabric, they're stitched on transparent 14 pt plastic canvas.   The red and the blue are stitched as well, which is why they take so long (each one took probably around 100 hours to finish).      The stitches aren't actually cross stitches either, but a half cross stitch for the sprites and a different stitch (I forget offhand it is called, but it is one lone stitch, one short stitch on a diagonal) for the background.

Here's a shoddy close up photo:

4  Another Dragon Quest Needlepoint in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: March 14, 2009 08:05:11 PM
This tree shows up in a couple of the games:

It's meant to accompany a god-bird (also from dragon quest) needlepoint, here they are together:

I'm planning on making at least one more, but since these things take around 100 hours to finish so I might switch gears and focus on some other projects for a while for sanity's sake.

5  Metroid Needlework in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: December 25, 2008 06:38:05 PM

This is the second Metroid I've done.    It took about 8 hours to complete.

I've got a tutorial for how I make these things here

6  Goddess Bird Needlepoint (Dragon Quest) in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: December 21, 2008 06:32:38 PM

This god-bird pops up in various forms and under various names throughout the Dragon Quest games.   I was browsing through Dragon Quest sprites looking for something to stitch, and this one popped out.

On the technical side: I used DMC floss and 14 pt clear plastic canvas.   I used all 6 strands of the floss for the bird and 3 strands for the blue background.

And for anyone who wants to make their own needlepoint sprites, I've got a tutorial here:

7  Another video game needlepoint - this one's different, I swear in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: November 05, 2008 04:35:39 PM
Well, it's a little different.   Instead of my usual centered sprite on a solid color background, I tried an off center sprite on a background taken from the same game, and this is what happened:

9  Re: More Final Fantasy Needlework - the original light warriors in Needlework: Completed Projects by OneChordWonder on: October 19, 2008 09:36:10 PM
Took some more pictures of it....Unfortunately since it's so long, it's hard to get a good picture of the entire thing.
