21  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mochi ice cream balls magnet on: August 02, 2010 05:34:52 PM
While visiting my cousin in Honolulu she took me to Bubbies and we had these ice cream balls. They're just ice cream wrapped in a rice paste. They were awesome and looked so cute on the display so I'm gonna send her this magnet I made.

The real thing:

In retrospeck I should have placed them closely together but I think I nailed the colors. I scraped a white colored pencil with an x-acto knife over the balls to give them that powdery look.

The "weed" is just oregano and I put it in a plastic bag and crimped the edges. It looks cute in person but the glare is bad in the picture. I used translucent and colored clay and swirled it to make the little pipe, and did the same with the lighter. The piece of wood I got at Michael's and stained it myself Cool
23  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Nausica of the Valley of the Wind creature magnets. on: July 26, 2010 06:46:16 PM
While staying with my cousin on vacation he and his roomates watched this movie. I'm not an anime fan. Anyways I wanted to make them some thank you gifts for letting me stay with them. I figured making the "ohmu" bug things would be a neat gift. I did some research and apparently when they're mad they have red eyes and when they're calm they have blue eyes. I made some impressions for the magnets to be glued in. Took me awhile to perfect the shade. In some pics they look all black, then bright dirty green, then a brown green. I mixed black, the "Peapod" shade in Studio Sculpey, and silver. I shaped the black blobs then layed strips of clay over to give it that ridge effect, then made the eyes with translucent clay mixed with color and after baking I painted them with glaze so they'd be shiny.

24  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Can magnets be baked into clay? on: July 24, 2010 05:14:50 PM
So I'm making this creepy slug things for a friend. They're from some anime movie he likes. I want them to be magnets maybe about 1 1/2 inch long. Can I bake a magnet into clay or do I have to glue it on afterwards?

25  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Elephant pendant for a friend on: June 14, 2010 09:35:03 PM
My friend's birthday is coming up and she specifically asked for an elephant face. I'm no good with animals usually but I studied a picture really hard as I made it. I quite like how it turned out. The eyes are tiny clear crystals I bought at a miniature show.

26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Maryland pendant with stone set over my birthplace on: May 22, 2010 07:21:06 PM

So I have been looking for pendant like this for 5-6 years. In stores and online and in local Maryland giftshops. Nothing. So when I took my metalsmithing class I had this in mind for my 2nd project. I cut the silver, layed on a paper cutout of Maryland, cut it with a jewelers saw, made and soldered on the jump rings, set the cubic zirconia over the Annapolis area(where I was born. I was born in April and my birthstone is a diamond but a CZ is more reasonable Cheesy), and buffed it, then found a silver chain at Michaels. Having a necklace like this was so important to me since I plan on moving far away soon.

In stages of progress

27  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Barbie cameo necklace for a friend on: May 10, 2010 06:56:24 PM

So my friend/co-worker knew of my clay abilities and she asked me to make something. Apparently she saw this Tarina Tarantino necklace at a store awhile back but wasn't gonna pay the crazy price for it.

She just wanted the basic Barbie silhouette on the heart with rhinestones. I sketched a picture and she approved.

Her name is Victoria btw Tongue I thought putting her name in the fashion of "Barbie" was a good idea. I mixed hot pink polymer clay with white and some silver shimmery clay. I shaped the heart, cut a black circle and pale purple one, printed out a barbie pic, cut it out and layed it over some white clay, then stuck it on. I made indents on the purple clay with 2.5 mm Swarovski crystals so I knew where to place them after baking.

Then I found some velvet ribbon at the craft store and used ribbon clamps. I love how it turned out and I think she'll love it as well.

28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sterling silver and amethyst ring on: May 02, 2010 04:04:31 PM

I recently started a metalworking class. This is my first completed project. I did everything; cut the silver, used a torch on it, hammered it around a mandrel to make it round, ran it through a texturizer, domed it, soldered the inner lining, set the amethyst, and buffed it. I'm also a size 3 on my ring finger so it's nice to have something that actually fits it. Grin

These 3 are pics of the ring in progress

29  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Tiny box of marshmallow bunny peeps on: April 23, 2010 07:05:54 PM
I still need to print out a tiny Peeps logo to glue on the flap. Then I'll wrap some plastic to make it more realistic. Does anyone know how and what program to shrink down pics?
30  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Tiny box of French macaroons magnet on: March 21, 2010 08:13:56 PM
Made this for my aunt. She bought the family these horrible macaroons from a pastry shop in California. No one liked them but she was so excited to serve them. My mom thought it would be cute for me to make her magnet.
