1  A bag for me! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by joysephine on: July 15, 2007 08:02:38 PM
This is the first bag I have made for myself in probably 4 years.  I was so inspired by all of you with your pleats and belts for straps and all your creativity, that I just had to give it a try again.  I found this cool material and decided it was the stuff to make my awesome bag.  So, here it is! (click on the pics for big versions)

The outside of the bag is made out of a canvas-y type material I found at Goodwill. I think it was a window valance. The lining is linen I already had. The silvery part at the base of the straps is from a belt I found on clearance at Target. It's a soft cloth but has a silvery look to it. I already had the d-rings on the straps. In all, it cost me about $3 to make. Yay! Here are some more pics:

2  reversible bag for my sis in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by joysephine on: June 28, 2007 12:22:53 PM
Hey, all!  I've been hanging around here for like 4 years but haven't really made anything since my daughter was born 2 years ago.  My sis asked me to make her a big, reversible bag for her birthday.  Here's what I made:

I made a pocket that flips so the outside could be without a pocket and the inside could have one:

3  Chenille by the inch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by joysephine on: October 16, 2004 09:37:39 AM
I just had to share this stuff with you guys.  It's the coolest!  It's called chenille by the inch and I used it on one bag and loved it.  It's inexpensive and easy to use and fun!  Go to Fabric Cafe's website for more info on it.  Here's a few pics of the bag I used it on:

Here's my first felt applique:

And the lining.  Kind of a jungle print but it has palm trees in it.  The more I look at it the more it cracks me up that it's jungle with palm trees.  Tongue

5  my 1st reversible bag / added 1st applique bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by joysephine on: June 18, 2004 08:15:26 PM
I'm so excited!  I actually made a reversible bag!  Tongue  The bottom measures 6" x 9" and it is 10" tall and 14" wide at the top. It closes with a magnetic snap and has 2 shoulder straps.   My pattern was the Jordy tutorial just modified to be bigger.

Brown outside with tropical print pocket:

YOU ROCK, JORDY!!!  This pattern is so awesome.  It has cut my sewing time by more than half.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  Here's the 1st bag I made with this wonderful pattern.  It's made of a brown tweed-like material with this adorable polyester pastel plaid lining.  Then, I made a ribbon flower with buttons in the middle to go on the front and finished it off with magnetic snaps.

And I like this pic b/c it shows how well the lining, brown tweed, and the ribbon flower go together:

Thanks again, jordy for this awesome pattern!

7  My Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by joysephine on: June 07, 2004 05:03:09 PM
I made this bag and just had to share it here because this forum has been extremely helpful to me.  It's kinda small, about 10" across by 8" tall by 3" deep.  Green linen with cream linen lining.
