1  Re: My First Quilt - Pattern Suggestions? in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Giff on: July 12, 2007 09:08:17 PM
My first quilt was a simple one-block with a little bit of fussy cutting, and simple stitch-in-the-ditch quilting.

There are many really effective designs that can be achieved with this really simple starting point, and it's a great way to practice your techniques and to learn things like binding and piecing.

2  Bumble Bee Skirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Giff on: July 12, 2007 06:31:29 PM
My mother knitted a cardigan for my little girl, and she really had nothing to wear with it, so I made her a little mid-wale corduroy skirt with a trim of some bumble bee braid I just fell in love with. The skirt is chocolate brown - you can't really tell in the photos.

And teamed with Granny's cardigan

That's fabulous, Sansa! Quite mesmerising.

I'll add one of my blocks for a quilt I am making for a friend in the US. The blocks are massive - about 20"sq.

6  Bumble Bee Baby Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Giff on: June 04, 2007 04:25:09 PM
A long-time friend of mine is expecting her 3rd baby later this month. I decided that the baby should have something special, as he or she will be living in hand-me-downs for ever. Since I don't know if they're having a boy or a girl, I made a unisex quilt. The Dick and Jane fabric is perfect for my friend who just loves these books!

Now the other 2 children want a Dick and Jane quilt!

7  "Card Trick" Cushion in Quilting: Completed Projects by Giff on: May 09, 2007 03:54:48 PM
My first project from my quilting class was this cushion cover. I made it for a friend and didn't have an insert the right size for it, so here it is, in all it's flat glory.

Here are some beads I made for my SIL's birthday. I found it hard to part with them, I loved them so much, so I made a set for myself in purple. I wear them often! Smiley

And how awesome is that spider pin cushion?!

I made these for our nanny who wanted something to go with a navy dress to wear out for dinner on Valentine's Day.
