2  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Dichroic Blossom in Hot Pink Frame Mosaic on: April 10, 2013 06:59:25 PM
When I saw this frame I knew I had to use this dichroic glass in a mosaic for it. The pink matches exact! It was fun just to make a flower out of my imagination. Smiley

Also it is very versatile since it can be hung or put on a table. It can be oriented horizontal or vertical, too. Smiley

5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head (Mosaic) on: February 05, 2013 06:09:09 PM
This is the first mosaic I've used alcohol inks. Used them (okay 1 color) on a sheet of plain glass then cut them. Backed the whole mosaic with a mirror to reflect the rain, and added some drops in glass on top. The picture is from a coloring page I found online, but can't recall where. Anywho...here it is.
Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head

The inks have a learning curve so I asked a fellow mosaic artist, who uses them all the time, for advice. I will for sure be using inks in mosaics again. Smiley
6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Perfect Mosaic Scale for the Wall on: February 05, 2013 01:48:55 PM
One of the mods here suggested making some of my scales for hanging, and this is the result. Smiley

Same as the others just it has no design or feet on the bottom for placing it on the floor. I think I like the simpler design, too.
The white, blue and green are so pretty together.

Comments or questions always welcome. Smiley
7  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate Mocha Trifle (TNT - Tried and true) on: February 04, 2013 08:14:25 PM
Have this thing on Pinterest that I have to try a recipe before I pin it. Here is the next one that was tested.  Grin

Chocolate Mocha Trifle
Ingredients:
1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix
1 3/4 cups cold soy milk, milk or almond milk
2 (3.3 ounce) packages instant white chocolate pudding mix
4 teaspoons instant coffee granules
2 tablespoons warm water
2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed
3 chocolate chips

Directions:
1.Prepare brownies according to package directions. Bake in 8x8 pan and cool completely. Cut into 1 inch cubes.
2.In a medium bowl, whisk together milk and pudding mix until mixture begins to thicken. Dissolve coffee granules in water and stir into pudding mixture. Fold in whipped topping.
3.In a glass serving bowl, layer one-third of brownie cubes, one-third of pudding mixture. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used. Top with chocolate chips. Chill 30 minutes in refrigerator before serving.

Will serve 10 people.  Smiley
8  COOKING / Dessert / Two Minute Hawaiian Pie (TNT - tried and true) on: February 04, 2013 08:08:17 PM
Started this thing on my Pinterest that I won't pin a recipe unless I have tried, and liked it. Here is one of the recent tried and liked.  Grin

No-bake Two-Minute Hawaiian Pie is a tropical fruit pie that really does take just 2 minutes to put together. Boy, is it ever delicious!

Serves: 6 - 8 depending on slice size
What You'll Need:

1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple in syrup, undrained
1 (6-serving) package instant vanilla pudding and pie filling
1 (8-ounce) container sour cream   (you can use a whipped topping instead and it tastes just as yummy)
1 (9-inch) prepared shortbread pie crust
1 (8-ounce) can sliced pineapple, drained and halved
    8 maraschino cherries, drained
2 tablespoon sweetened flaked coconut   (I toasted mine in the oven)

What To Do:
In a large bowl, combine crushed pineapple with its syrup, dry pudding mix, and sour cream; mix until well combined. Spoon into pie crust and decorate top with pineapple slices and cherries; sprinkle with coconut.

Cover and chill at least 2 hours before serving.

Mine made 2 pies, and they are both G-O-N-E!

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Thimble Necklace on: January 11, 2013 06:42:10 AM
Saw this thimble necklace on Pinterest and have been crazy obsessed with it ever since. Decided I needed to make one of my own.

Using a steel thimble that belonged to my grandmother this is what I came up with:

Pretty pleased with it and am thinking I need to find some pretty old thimbles so I can make more. Smiley
