Been along time since this craftalong had any love, so I made a wreath to leave. Since July 4th is this weekend I combined the two. Smiley

It's one of the wreath made with tulle wrapped around a pool noodle. Super easy and fun.

2  Making Mayonnaise in Recipes and Cooking Tips by HSG on: May 15, 2015 08:09:31 AM
Got this great and easy recipe for making mayonnaise from a friend. It takes about 2 - 4 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients:
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. salt
1 T. vinegar
2 cups of oil

Take your first 3 ingredients, and put them into a food processor with the large steel 'S' blade. Process for 30 seconds. With processor going, slowly poor oil into feed tube in a steady stream. When oil is all gone process for about another 5 seconds, and you're done!

You will have 2 1/2 cups rich creamy mayonnaise with no sugar, preservatives, or anything you cannot pronounce. It will last 2 weeks in your fridge in a closed container.

The cost of a jar of mayonnaise in my area is about $4.00 - 6.00 dollars. This costs about .45 cents to make.  Smiley

4  Library Card Catalog Restoration in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by HSG on: May 04, 2015 06:05:52 PM
Friend asked me if I could restore an old card catalog. He wanted to surprise his wife, and dear friend, for her birthday. Although I've never done a restoration on this scale, I was excited to give it a go.

It is a Remington Rand card catalog that he found on Craigslist. The person who had it, had painted it this  red, white and blue.

Once stripped, the wood must have been very dry when they painted. You can see the white paint had soaked into the wood. You can also see there was a change in the hardware from the drawer fronts, where they used wood putty.

All stripped and sanded, then did some conditioning to the wood before staining.

Because there was hardware missing I found some similar brass pieces to use on Etsy. Then I started putting it all back together.

Though the cabinet has flaws in the wood from neglect, paint and whatever, it is still a beautiful piece of history. I really enjoyed doing this project for my friend.
Finished!

Even found some old library cards to use in one of the drawers.

This took me a total of about 15 hours to complete. I would like to tackle something similar again sometime. Thanks for checking it out Smiley

7  Re: Wrap and rust dyeing - my first time ever... in Dyeing: Completed Projects by HSG on: November 14, 2014 11:19:11 AM
There's this artist I follow on Flickr, and she does rust, concrete and other types of unique art. Here is one of my favorites by her:

I've often wondered how it was done, and the fabric type, etc.

Received from my incredible partner, Onyxnox. Smiley She really out did herself.

Here is the whole package:

The magnet says: "Think I am cute when I'm mad? Well, I'm about to become really adorable."  Cheesy

There are two hand towels with cocktail fabric with snaps to hang them from the towel bar.

And here is my apron! Complete with white ric rak!  Grin

Everything is impeccably stitched. The apron fits and I love it has pockets. I am forever looking for somewhere to put my phone when I cook.

Thank you so much Onyxnox. You made this swap so fun Smiley

10  Snarky Honeymooners in Completed Projects by HSG on: September 20, 2014 06:51:04 PM
Was in the Snarky Housewives swap, and made this for Onyxnox.

She and her husband like the Honeymooners, as well as gin and tonic. from there it was just a mtter of coming up with the perfect way to display my idea. Then I found these two tiny canvases (3x3), with easels. The tiny Barbie phones were from Etsy.
