2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / yogurt containers on: August 29, 2007 01:55:40 PM
hi!
I hope somebody has the answer!!
I usually use yogurt containers (medium size-32 oz) for storing..storing anything, small beads etc. But many a times i use it for storing food items like leftover gravy or sthg and also for storing dry food items like pulses, rice, raw peanuts, ginger, garlic etc etc.
I have 2 questions..
1. Is there any way erase whtever is printed on the outside?
2. What paints can be used to paint so as to make it permanent? (dishwasher safe)

Any ideas of decorating these containers?

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / wht do you think abt these receiving blankets?? on: January 23, 2007 08:28:02 AM
HI!
I m expecting any day now!!! So we have invited my mother from India to come here to help us. And when she came she brought lots n lots of handmade baby stuff. Clothes, cotton nappies, knitted sweaters, receiving blankets etc. And all in all available colors: green, red, blue, pink, yellow, white...

So here are some of her handmade receiving blankets. They r all cotton with double layers of cloth. She has used variety of methods: embroidery, needlework, patchwork, fabric painting, etc.

I am advising her to start her own business, may be an online shop like on etsy but she's not so sure...

We both are eager to know your opinion on these blankets. Also let us know what prices will be appropriate for these blankets? Sorry the pics are not that gr8 and haven't ironed all those blankets so the finishing touches are missing.

so here they are:
The first one is handpainted: the name of painting is "warli painting"

few more:
Fabric painting

Embroidered receiving blanket

Patchwork

Fabric painting

Plain flanel

let me know wht u all think...

If possible I'll post few of her baby clothes/ sweaters too!!

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / serving tray on: September 01, 2006 12:15:51 PM
HI!
With all the various functions coming I decided to make a serving tray with some Indian traditional theme. I found a real nice pic of an Indian folk dance.."dandiya". Can U guess whr i found it? not on internet, not in magazines but on a grocery bag!!!

I got the tray from Michaels, filed it, painted it and glued this pic on it. Added few red embellishments and now I am planning to pour hardener+resin to make it durable, and lot more shiny.

Wht do u think?

thanks n regards,
Akriti
