11  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: The (new) Etsy critique thread! on: December 12, 2008 07:22:40 PM
Mandodeb- I think your shop announcement is good. Your photos seem a bit busy to my eye- I think they need a solid background so your items can really pop.
Have you made a light box yet? I used a tutorial from here: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html and I'm still tweaking the results.
You're doing better than I am- I'm still waiting for my first sale!

I like this a lot. It's weird, but I like it.
Good work and good job on finishing it, too!

19  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: My first wallet/clutch thing: long wallet with fun insides on: November 11, 2008 05:08:28 AM
I think your fabric choices really make the project.
Have you tried fray check ( a glue like product)? or what about satin stitch the edges- makes it a lot more labor intensive but neatens up the look quite a bit. Just set it on smallest number of stitches and zigzag setting- test on something else first of course.
Nice work, I'm in the same boat- but not making wallets  Cheesy
