Quote
Row 6: Hold the needle at the top of the work in your left hand. Fold the bottom needle up towards you. The smooth stockinette side should be on the outside of the work.
P the first stitch on the the "top" needle tog with the first st on the "bottom" needle. You will end up with just one st on your right needle.

Rep 31[39, 47] times, slip the next 14 sts from the bottom needle onto a st holder or scrap yarn [you should have 32[40, 48] sts left], p the 15 sts from the top needle, p tog the rest of the sts as for the beg of this row.

What in the world does it want me to do?  I seriously do not get it.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Not Your Standard Issue Sweatshirt question on: January 03, 2007 05:17:51 PM
That's what I figured because usually it'd say 4" from cast-on edge.

I called the woman at my yarn store and she said she'd take it to be 4" from cast-on edge even though it doesn't say that.

The picture I have from the book (xerox copy) has only the top so I can't see the bottom to get an idea.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Felting question from a newbie on: January 03, 2007 02:37:01 PM
it needs to be 100% animal fiber to felt, so, no, that will not felt.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Not Your Standard Issue Sweatshirt question on: January 03, 2007 02:29:45 PM
Ok I'm working on the Not your Standard Issue Sweatshirt from the Yarn Girl's Guide to Simple Knits.  I do seed stitch for 6 rows and then I do stockinette stitch, keeping the first and last 6 stitches seed stitch "for 4 inches"  is that for four MORE inches from where I stopped doing them all seed stitch or 4" from cast-on edge?

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / SnB Nation Strikes again -- or my search for yarn on: January 19, 2005 02:03:18 PM
I've been going nuts trying to find Katia Danubio and Jaeger Siena in the colors used for the Going Out with a Bag on page 178.

What are some other yarns (maybe even less expensive) that can be used for these?  i'm sick of looking for those yarns and getting really frustrated.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Picking up stitches on: January 08, 2005 07:09:21 PM
thanks.  thank goodness this time it's fairly easy.  Pick up 50 stitches and there are only 50 rows.

Now I can keep going.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Picking up stitches on: January 08, 2005 05:10:35 PM
ok so I have to pick up stitches. do I start on the right or left? Huh

it's more comfortable to start on my right and go left, but is that wrong?

and I'm supposed to be working in stockinette. this picking up doesn't actually count as stitches, right? so I pick them all up and then knit the first row, right? (this is for the laptop case in SnB Nation)
