I'm turning 30 this year and this has brought on a need to re-examine my style. I like the way I dress (the boy calls it "Garage Kitty": a mix between grunge and Hello Kitty) and while I'd love to be able to spend more on clothes, I'm happy with my wardrobe as it is. I'm also comfortable with the age I am and am actually looking forward to being 30.
...but...
I keep getting mistaken for a teenager. I know I look younger than I am and I also sound younger than I am (I've been mistaken for an 8 year old on the phone!) and while it might be fun for a while to be thought of as being half the age you are, I would like to be treated like the age I am rather than the age I look. It's hard for people to take me seriously as they think I'm a teen, and this is a hindrance in everyday life & business.
Still, I don't want to change the way I dress to look like an average 30 year-old, it's just not me. I'd feel like a fake if I dressed so that I looked older just so I'd look more my age. I don't act like a teen, but gosh darn it, I'll hold on to my right to dress like one!
