1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / My Art for Your Craft Loot!! on: July 19, 2005 11:48:08 AM
Post pix when you get your packages!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Favorite Song Swap Gallery!! on: July 18, 2005 08:35:20 PM
Here's the illustration I made and sent to geeyouknit (she got it today):

**edit - i figure it'd be good to explain why i did what i did, and what the song was called --  i went with the butterfly because her song is from an album called "misery is a butterfly", which also explains the dripping.  the song was called "pink love" and the lyrics were beautiful.  i wanted to express the sadness/isolation of the song while keeping with pink colors and then adding the hearts so it all tied together.**
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / I think I saw Heaven! on: July 01, 2005 06:45:48 AM
Here's a photo I took up in Albany last Saturday.  The rays spread throughout the entire sky.  It was great!  The second photo is of a guy's hat at the African American Pride Festival in White Plains in early June.  Let me know what you think!

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / my boyfriend is turning 30!! eek! on: June 20, 2005 01:14:13 PM
so my boyfriend's birthday is Aug. 24th, and he's turning the big 3-0!  i want something cool to do for him but i tapped out my greatest idea 2 years ago when he moved to WI from NY with me for me to finish college (i'm much younger than him - i'll be turning 23 in July).  2 years ago i threw a HUGE party and made this awesome pinata of his head with a mullet (he had one WAY back in high school) and even gave it his nose.  i posted old, embarassing pix of him all over and everything.  so that idea was so great that i just don't know what to do this year.  i'd like to GO somewhere (we're 30 miles from NYC) to have a party - preferably with some entertainment that i don't have to arrange.  something like medieval times but not that (we've done that before).

i still have a lot of time to think about this, but does anyone have any suggestions?
5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / My Art for Your Craft Swap (SIGNUPS CLOSED; SEND BY 8/06) on: June 14, 2005 07:04:46 PM
"My Art for Your Craft"

Details of swap: This swap is designed to give artists an outlet to swap and to give crafters an opportunity to receive original, custom art.  Specify your ability (artist or crafter), your skills/style, and what you hope to receive.  (If more artists than crafters sign up, or vice versa, I may have to limit sign-ups.)  Once you are assigned a partner, please work out details on how many/what kind of items to swap.

I also want to make sure that there is enough time for artists to be artsy and crafters to be crafty, so if the send by date needs to be extended, I can do that (but yeah, my birthday is July 30, so I kinda want to have my item by them *grin*)  If anyone has questions/suggestions, be sure to post them so we can try to work this out to be a FANTASTIC swap!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap: My Art for Your Craft
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of the US?

What do you create - art, craft, or both?  (If you can do both, please fill out both sections below; you will only need to create for one category, depending on whether I need more artists or more crafters to balance out the sign-ups.)

ARTISTS:  Describe your art skills (favorite media, style, favorite subject matter, etc.).
What type of crafts do you hope to trade for?
If we have more artists than crafters sign up, would you be interested in trading art for art?

CRAFTERS:  What type of crafts do you create?
Describe the kind of art you hope to receive (style, subject matter, etc.).
If we have more crafters than artists sign up, would you be interested in trading craft for craft?

6  New York / New York: South / Upstate Music/Art Festival on: June 12, 2005 07:37:16 PM
this is a flyer i designed for an upcoming event in Ellenville, NY (thrown by my boyfriend and his uncle).  the event is called "The Second Annual Freedom on the Fourth Music and Art Festival".  I wanted to get across some sense of freedom but still make it look cool.  It's kind of like a mini Woodstock (what Woodstock was SUPPOSED to be, before corporate America ruined it).  I'm posting here so people can see my design, but also to promote it in case anyone lives around there and wants to go:

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Art Swap! on: May 12, 2005 06:22:15 PM
i'm an artist, and i do digital illustrations, and i was wondering what people thought about doing an art swap?  i'm WAY more artsy than i am crafty, and i always shy away from certain swaps because i'm afraid i wouldn't be able to do anything appropriate.  so i'm thinking of an art swap - meaning YOUR art, not a reprint of a famous person's art.  we could do a theme within art, but let's see if anyone is up for it first.
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My Morbid Valentine Illustration/Card on: January 31, 2005 07:47:06 AM
hi everyone, i thought i'd share the Valentine's Day illustration/card that i made for my  boyfriend (it's called Or Else):

i wasn't sure if i should put it here or in the art section, so if i need to move it, just let me know.  it was done in adobe illustrator with a wacom tablet (yes, i drew it, it's NOT a photoshop filter)   Wink  a bigger version is on my website in case anyone is interested in seeing it not so squished.
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / New Steamy Portrait! on: January 07, 2005 11:45:50 AM
i've finally had time to start being creative again!  here's a portrait i finished up last night:
