1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / How much should I sell these for and other questions on: August 07, 2008 02:29:04 PM
Hi!  This is my first time posting in this part of craftster and I hope I'm doing this right.  xD;

I'm going to be sharing a table with a friend at a 1 day mini anime convention in less than a month selling accessories and some clothing.  She'll be selling some crafts as well, but I believe she'll be mainly doing art and such...

Anyway, I'm going off topic!  I just made these really cute pins/brooches and they came out pretty good - good enough to add to my inventory to sell.  I don't know how to price them, though.  I was thinking $1.50 and maybe 2.50 for bigger ones but they also take about hour to make and they require a lot of hand work... I might even be making more detailed ones with faces of anime charatures on them.  I know you guys are crafters as well so you could give a big eye-sight into pricing handmade stuff better than my non-crafty friends (not saying they aren't any help, though!!).  I don't want to cheapen my worth, if you know what I mean, but I also want to keep the price reasonable for a convention where younger teenagers with not that much cash will be.

As well as this, I was also thinking about using this idea for tagging my items. http://kickass-peanut.deviantart.com/art/Taggie-Tutorial-84261853
I'm going for the cute look, since our studio name is 'Cute Fruit' and I personally specialize in cute/kawaii and loli-able things.  Do you think this is a good idea?  If I have the free time I might use this to whip up a few for business cards as well as for tagging my items.  I wanna get my name out there, you know! xD

Thanks for your time! <3
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Video Game Swap 4? on: February 22, 2008 08:16:19 PM
I've been looking at the past gaming swaps and although I can't do any big swaps anytime soon (I've been buying too much fabric lately *lol*) I was just wondering if this swap could go down again..?  It looked like alot of fun!  I would jump at the chance to organize but I'm not the most organized person for the job.  >_<;;
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mushrooms, stars, and cats FTW -- UPDATED: MOAR TURNIPS. on: February 18, 2008 06:57:55 PM
So it all started last year for halloween when my brother made me help him with his Thugged/iced out Mario Costume.  He bought all this sculpty to make a biiig 1up mushroom and Starman and didn't use all of it so gave it to me.  (I knew that was going to happen.  *lol*)  Now I'm addicted.  >_<

I'm making a Turnip for a friend.  Cheesy

I was sad that I missed the lolcat swap, so I made this long cat charm last night.  xD
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Japanese music swap on: February 15, 2008 12:17:10 PM
I haven't seen one of these done, but I figure since there are a good number of members here into Japanese fashion and anime this might be intresting!

Maybe your partner is in love with a particular J-rock/J-pop band - you could make them a replica of a shirt a member wore during a live or PV (music video).  Take the lyrics from one of their favorite songs and use it to make a cool craft.  Make a plushy of there favorite artist even.  There's plenty of spiffy things you can do with this idea!  X3
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Rhythm video gaming swap on: February 14, 2008 08:08:56 PM
Well, I LOVE video games like parapara, DDR, Guitar Hero, and IIDX.  It meshes two of my favorite things:  Music and video games.  I think this would be an intresting idea for a swap and I'm sure I'm not the only craftster who's into rhythm gaming... am I?!  D:

Anyway, how about it?
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / How do I do this? (wide fishnetted tank/poncho) on: May 08, 2007 08:18:24 PM
I'm not sure where to even start on this top.  I would say that it's a poncho like top made with a wide fishnet pattern going on and with extra holes on the side so you can wear it as a tank as well.

Well.. thats all I can figure out.  Can anyone help me some how, like give me some patterns that I can piece together to get the same look?

Thanks in advance.  ^_^
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 50's prom dress on: May 06, 2007 08:49:41 PM
This was my prom dress for my senior prom which was on the 21st of last month.  I got lots of compliments  ^_^  I think it fits in the 50's pinup look, I mean, thats what I was going for.  *lol*

These pictures really don't go it any justice.  I haven't gotten the pictures in my camera developed yet so these are from my cousin's cell phone.  They make me look wide when I'm really not  ^^;; I just really wanted to enter this contest to see the results XD

The black is actually pinstipe fabric, the red is a stretch satin.  Originally McCalls's pattern 4444, I took it in so that it showed off my curves (well, the curves that I do have - I'm pretty slim *lol*).  I actually finished it about 15 mins before I left to pick up my date!!

EDIT:  Moar pictures!!

I guess I should also add that I had to recover the clutch with my pinstripe fabric to match and make the hair comb as well.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Japanese street fashion swap (Decora, lolita, vk...whatever) on: May 05, 2007 12:00:09 PM
I know they had one of these, like, a year or so ago and I was thinking while looking through my lolita and Decora folders on my computer how it would be so cool if there was another one of these.  I'm just finishing up on all the swaps I've joined and I'm already thinking about doing another?!  XD

How about it?  Would anyone be intersed in participating and/or organizing?
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Anime and gaming swap on: January 16, 2007 09:06:23 AM
I came up with this idea thinking of what I could wear to upcoming conventions. *lol* I thought of many things I could make and I thought this would be a great swap idea.

This swap would be for anything gaming or anime related (we all know they pretty much come hand in hand).  So ideas of what to craft would be plushies, game cosies/cases, convention care packages, totes/clothing/accessories relating to gaming and anime... anything you can think of really.

So would anyone be interested?  Personally I may be alittle too busy to do this anytime soon but I just thought I'd throw it out there for people to ponder.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Three skirts - polka dots, rainbow and plaid on: August 24, 2006 03:31:02 PM
Here are the latest skirts that I've made.  My favorite is the polka dot one, but I have yet to wear it out due to lack of cute shoes. ^^;;

This was also the first time putting a zipper in a skirt - it came out nice for a first time, although being the perfectionist I am with my sewing I might end up taking it apart and redoing it.  XD

Action shot with the petticoat!!  It looks just as good without the poof which is great.

I still haven't found a way to close it... I might just add some velcro, buttons or something..

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/totchiisthesex/rainbowskirt.jpg
If its not obvious already, I love rainbows.  I've worn this out to an anime convention and everyone seemed to love it.  I'm actually working on a matching corset. *^_^*

Tell me what you think!
