42  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Burton Cummings Skirt!! on: November 27, 2006 11:17:44 PM
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't know how much my mother would kill to have one of those shirts!!!!!!!!!
Love the skirt, love their music!
For all of you who don't know who The Guess Who are, get busy and check 'em out!!! You will be grateful!!!
By the way, do you know of Domenic Troiano? He was (semi) related to me!!!!!
I knew the name... it just took google to remind me; he wrote "I can hear you calling" that was performed by Three Dog Night (Another fave of mine)  and he was a guitarist for The Guess Who; I didn't know he was also the guitarist for Bush! He was just one of those ultra-talented people!  Did you inherit some of his talent?  Cheesy
43  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My Sister's Pink Bunnyhug! on: November 27, 2006 10:58:23 PM
Bunnyhug is the coolest word.
Are they still called bunnyhugs if they have zippers?

Thank you! I love the word too; it wasn't until I moved to Alberta that I realized no one except us called them that.  Technically, the hood and the one front pocket is the original bunnyhug design, but they are still called that if they have zippers.  Everyone in the world except Saskatchewan calls them hoodies, but we invented them, dammit!  Grin
44  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Sister's Pink Bunnyhug! on: November 27, 2006 10:39:37 PM
My sister wanted something pink because she used to be a tomboy, and she never wore pink. Now she's becoming a lady!  So I sent her a drawing; she ok'd it, and I made her a bunnyhug!  (You call them hoodies, but they were invented here in Saskatchewan, Canada, and they are called "Bunnyhugs."

Hope you like! (I made the pattern from scratch)

On June 15th, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman did a Canadian tour called "First Time Around"  These are two of the greatest Canadian Songwriters of all time;between the two of them there was The Guess Who (the original writers of "American Woman" for all you Lenny Kravitz fans) Bachman-Turner-Overdrive, and they both put out solo albums.  I love love LOVE their music.  I have loved it ever since I was a little girl and my dad gave me a Guess Who cassette tape and I put it in my Barbie Walkman and played it to death.  ANywho, they came to Saskatoon, and I went with my parents to their concert (They are aging hipsters by the way - both Burton, Randy, and My parents!)  I made my mom and dad t-shirts, and created a skirt named.... The Burton Cummings Skirt!!  After the concert, which ROCKED, I waited at the back door of the auditorium for an hour and a half, made friends with the security guards and when Burton Cummings got into his car, and it started driving up to the tour bus, I stood in front of it waving my Sharpie, and he stopped the driver and got out and SIGNED MY SKIRT!!!  WEEE!!  I've never been like this for anyone, but I lose around those old hippies!  (No I don't have a daddy complex; I am just in worship of their music) So, anyway.. on to the pictures! Thanks for any comments! 2nd Post guys!  -Lisa

My mom and dad - can you believe they're both 50??

Me being REALLY excited!

I used an inkjet transfer to put Burton's Face on my skirt! Let me know if you know of The Guess Who, BTO, Burton Cummings or Randy Bachman; their music is AMAZING!

46  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Waka-waka-waka-waka-waka-waka PacMan!!! on: November 05, 2006 09:26:40 PM
Just to let everyone know ALL the pics are working now! (I think!)  Please look at them! YAY!
47  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Waka-waka-waka-waka-waka-waka PacMan!!! on: November 05, 2006 08:41:30 PM
So my fiance's brother decided he wanted to be pacman, but had no idea how.  I got together with him, drew some sketches, made three trips to Fabricland, (one of which ended with a VERY flat tire)  and this is the final result.  My apologies for not having a closeup of the Maze on his shirt; it is 100% authentic Pacman maze (Level Three, I believe!)
I Stuffed a globe-like shape with a 45 degree open mouth for the head, and made him a pull-on Ghost Hood that he could pull on and off.  In the Black Lights, the Ghost looked amazing!  I went as a witch, but I thought his idea was  waaaay more original! (I wasn't allowed to be a witch when I was younger; leftover rebellion!)  Kudos to Trent for the idea; Kudos to me, Lisa, for the execution!

48  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Any advice on this jacket? on: October 30, 2006 08:47:32 AM
For the embroidery around the edges, I would suggest getting some lace, cut it to the shape and applique it around the bottom of the jacket.  (Put your machine on a tight zigzag and trace around the edges, holding it in place)  Also, I'm not sure what you mean by cording in the middle; it looks like a hook and eye closure to me.  Make sure you clip into the seams when you are doing that slit in the cuff; very easy to get the machine around when clipped, and a bugger when they're not!  Hope any of that helped; feel free to pm me if you have any questions. -Lisa
49  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pet Tutorials! on: October 26, 2006 09:22:32 PM
Hey!  I just got a kitten (yay!) and I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial for a cat halter that I could make. Bramble is very curious and I'd love to take her outside, but we don't have a yard, and I want to take her on walks (exercise is good for owners too; it'll get me out of the house and away from my sewing machine for a while!) Thanks everyone! Cheesy
