1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Smelly Smelly Candle on: August 02, 2005 09:35:46 PM
I was wondering if anyone had any tips for making a scented candle not as strong. We bought a candle from Pier 1 for our living room- and it is the absolute perfect color to match the decor- but the problem is it smells like cheap men's shaving cream. It doesn't smell that bad when it is lit, but the odor can be overwhelming when you sit near the coffee table... any suggestions?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Summery Placemat Purse on: June 10, 2004 04:40:25 PM
My Aunt just sent me the cutest summery purse, and after she bought it she realized that it was just made out of a placemat with a little ribbon for handles.

It's really cute, and totally quick and easy, with very little sewing involved...

1) You kust fold the placemat in half and sew up the sides
2) Square off the bottom
3) Then attach some wide ribbon for the handles.
4) Decorate! My aunt embroidered (sp?) an  "L" on it for me!

Have fun!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Hmmm... Paperback possibly? on: May 26, 2004 04:46:25 PM
I love all the posts about the book clutches/purses and I reallly really want to make one- unfortunately I can't find any hardcover cooks that I actually like. I know I could cover them with fabric but I really like the ones that show the covers...

So I was thinging of possibly using a paperback book..... do you think that it would be possible to reinforce it enough that it would be sturdy enough to hold things....

I've been going through the basement and I found all my books and magazines from when I was younger....
The best find was a "Choose your own adventure" book- it think that would make a cute clutch!

Please let me know your ideas/suggestions!
