241  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / OK craftsters, I need some imagination... on: September 21, 2007 06:45:31 AM
I'm trying to create photo tile necklaces.  I love the shrinky-dink resin tiles posted earlier, but I want to avoid the shrinky dink step ~SO~ I need an idea for a 'base'.  Something square, flat, CHEAP, drillable for a jump ring...  any suggestions?

I was thinking of hitting the $1 store/thrift store for any games that may have square pieces...

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

243  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Clay 'rubbery' after baking? on: September 20, 2007 07:15:45 PM
Thanks Diane!  I tried looking around but couldn't come up with the right term (i.e. flexibility).

What would you recommend would be the best clay for making photo tiles for necklaces?  I'm trying to get an ivory color square (and I can't make a flat square to save my life!)

Can you tell me WHICH Jordy bag you used?  I took a gander and there were a couple of them!

And that fabric, swoon....

246  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Clay 'rubbery' after baking? on: September 20, 2007 11:22:44 AM
I purchased some clay today (FIMO soft), made some shapes and baked it at 230 for 30 minutes (as per the directions)

The clay seems rubbery - not really flexible but not like a hard tile that  I expected.

Should I keep baking it?  or will it harden as it sits?

Thanks!
