I found this tutorial after I made one of these for my puppy.. thanks for posting it Smiley (goodness some of these puppies are adorable!)

I need to make another one because the tutorial I used (found elsewhere on the net) wasnt exactly clear in some spots so I had a few mistakes (the front part being the most noticable).. also the coat wiggles around a bit and I didnt use binding (I was just trying to see if I could actually make one)..

my husband doesnt like the coats very much because he thinks they are too girlie.. I told him she is a girl!

thank you!!

I think she looks way cool Grin

Maybe your hubby is jealous and wants his own coat? hehehe Wink

Thanks!  Your tutorial was awesome.  I'll try and get my mom to send me a picture after Lucy gets her coat.  Smiley  She loves wearing clothes, so if this one fits her I'm sure she'll be getting a bunch of them Smiley

I made mine a little bit differently.. for the neck velcro part I sewed the velcro onto the fabric before I sewed the inside and outside layers together, so the stitching didn't show through... it was my first experience sewing velcro.  The hard, unfuzzy side seems to cause more problems.  Is there a trick to that?

I was going to try to figure out how to make a comfy belly strap, but got lazy and ended up just sewing the velcro on without the fabric belly strap part.  The width of my coat ended up being 12" and Lucy is only 14" around her belly so I figured it would probably be OK that way.  We'll see. Smiley  If not my stuffed puppy does look rather lovely in it.

Yeah I don't have any tricks for sewing velcro I'm afraid, I just use either an older needle that you've taken out of your machine, or if I am making a few coats I leave all the velcro til last and I use a needle made especially for denim/leather. They are a little more sturdy and go through the velcro like a knife through butter Smiley

Hope that helps Grin

I used to just sew velcro belly straps but I found it uses more of one side of the velcro than the other, so thats why I started making belly straps and sewing velcro on them!

Have fun!

I made a Kanine Koat!  This is only about my third sewing project ever (and first project posting on craftster!) so I am pretty pleased with how it came out.. the seam binding stuff isn't as bad as I thought it would be to work with!  I do admit that some of it is a bit wonky but I don't think the dog will notice. Smiley

It's for my mom's chihuahua, Lucy, who resides in NY.  Therefore, I had to have my floppy stuffed puppy model it:

I put the really fuzzy sort of fleece on the inside so it is nice and cozy.

FAR OUT! I LOVE IT! I'm so glad people actually use my pattern! They're SO easy to make don't you think? I hope your mum and her doggy likes it, oh make sure she sends you a photo of Lucy showing it off and could you post it here? That would be totally awesome :d Thanks heaps for showing your coat!

PS: The wonkiness won't be noticable - only you will see it! And the more things you sew, the better you will become at it Cheesy Excellent work Smiley

I absolutly LOVE the Betty Boop bag!

Thanks alot! You have no idea how popular it is, and how HARD it is to get that particular Boop fabric anymore.

Cheesy

Love everyone of your bags.  What type of interfacing did you use.  Each one looks very sturdy.

V

Thanks alot Smiley

I have NO clue what type of interfacing it is, I have never asked lol I just go in and feel all the rolls and when I feel the one I have been using I get that one! It is pretty heavy though.

Those pigs ROCK, and Betty is still so cool.  I love the bags, and the way you've made them.
Do you add the panel on top of the other material, or is like an inset, in other words three separate pieces you stitch together?  The reason I ask is that I'm planning something similar, and was wondering what would work best.

Great job.

Thanks for the comment, and yeah, sew the panel onto the fabric.

I cut my fabric, and then iron on my interfacing -  iron over the edges of the panel and then sew it onto the fabric.

Have fun Smiley
