i think the way hair knots is very dependant on the way their scalp in general works.
i wash my hair regularly (without over-washing), but some parts of my head are just oiler than others. and the oil seems to make the hair not want to knot.
i imagine that people who naturally produce a lot of oil have a much harder time knotting up. don't know if that's you or not, though.  Wink

if you're dreads aren't making you feel happy, ditch 'em. they're not an easy hairstyle to have, so there's really no point in having them (or ANY hairstyle) if they are buggin' you.

also, my god! that's a lotta hair! and i know what you mean with the wax and the dust. i had that problem. i didn't have much information about wax when i first started, and i REALLY overused. it was gross.

steal it from me? you can hardly steal the most generic design ever!!  Grin

seriously, if you want to make one like it, go for it. it's just a simple v-neck, so it's not like i did any inventing!
i can't even tell you how to make it, except cut and sew as you see fit. haha.

but yes, please do make one if you so wish!  Smiley

viri - they look awesome!  Grin

and slb2724:
different people get dreads for different reasons.
some people get them for the look of neat, manicured dreads.
some people like them big and fuzzy.
and some people don't even care about the look, and are doing it for the journey.
perhaps the girl is enjoying just leaving her hair to do whatever, and defying social conventions of having hair specifically to "look good".
it may be much more about letting herself be natural than looking a certain way. and beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder.
many people find being natural far more attractive than people who shave and preen and apply all the time.  Wink

this is just a guess, though. there are ALL sorts of reasons that people wind up with dreads, and all different types of dreads. they're not all meant to look perfect.  Grin
