I'm new to sewing but am an old hand at thrifting.  I recently saw a dog like this one (listed on ebay), at an estate sale but didn't buy it:

And then I got my latest issue of Adorn and there was one on page 96 in an article about Deyse Schmidt...

Fate is trying to tell me something!  I'd like to try making one but haven't had any luck searching the internet for instructions - anyone have any suggestions?

I recently decided to try making my own rings & have purchased some ring blanks to use as a base. 

I purchased Aleene's Jewelry Metal Glue at Michael's the other day but was wondering if others with more experience would recommend something else.  It seems to be bonding well but its very thick so its difficult to work with.

I will be adhering plastic and metal to the blanks so I need something that will work on different materials.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated and happy crafting!

I made this for my mom for Valentine's Day.  I purchased the hearts pre-cut at Hobby Lobby then embellished them with embroidery, sequins, foam, fabric & my first attempt using transfer printer paper.  Thanks for looking!

My mom's 80 & she's been skating since she was a teenage - met my father that way in fact!  So for X-mas this year I wanted to make her a pillow using the Sublime Stitching Roller Derby collection.  I finally finished it & thought I'd share...thanks for looking.

Looks like the family (me, fiance, dog & two cats) are moving to the Wichita area soon and I'm hoping I can get some help from crafters in the area on all the really important things one needs to learn about a new area...

-cool places to rent/live (like lofts) that allow pets
-parks or off-leash areas to take the dog
-a good: vet/gyn/dentist/hairdresser (4 seperate people, if one person does all that it would be too weird...)
-where to thrift
-best craft stores

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am going to make the leap from just practicing to making actual gifts for people so I have to think things though a little bit more. 

The one thing I'm a little confused about is how to nicely hide all the stuff on the back of something, specifically on an apron, baby bib, or pillowcase. 

I was thinking about just using a pretty piece of fabric which I would iron on using fusible web stuff.  However, I'm not sure if that's the best method (I've never used that fusible stuff) - I don't want it to be stiff or scratchy for the person/baby who wears it. 

Any other suggestions/tips would be grealy appreciated.

Its also my first time posting images, I hope it works & that its not too many...

I bought the Klutz embroidery kit for girls (I'm 37) awhile back and about 3 months ago got it out and tried to learn the stitches.  These are some pieces I did for practice on muslin.  I'm currently finishing up an owl, once he's done I think I'm feeling confident enough to make some embroidered X-mas gifts.








I really enjoy the embroidery boards and am inspired by everyone's creativity.

Hi!  I aplogize in advance if I've posted this in the incorrect forum but thought there might be people here who could help me.  Any suggestions regarding a better forum would be greatly appreciated.

I am dying (no pun intended) to try bleaching patterned fabric ala a recent article in Martha Stewart's Living Magazine (directions also on her website here: http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=channel3790038&contentGroup=MSL&site=living).  But I am having trouble locating a source for the bleach neutralizer she references.  She just says to get it from specialty websites but I'm hoping theres a easier/cheaper way to get my hands on some.

I did find Chlorine & Heavy Metal Neutralizer used in aquariums at Petsmart but am not sure if that will work.  Also, I found a reference to Anti-Chlor in a previous post on thisr forum but am not sure where to purchase this other than on-line.  I did check at my local Joann's, grocery store & pool center hoping to find something useable there but with no luck...

Anyone have any suggestions, advice or experience with this process?
