11  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / I'm lazy and need advice on: April 21, 2005 07:48:36 AM
Okay, I am not that lazy, but it's so hard to go through all the posts looking for the info I need. I've never participated in a craft fair/show (except one I set up in my owh house). I make handbags and wallets and knitting saques. How do I make it look attractive? How should I set up a booth? What would draw your attention to ME rather than someone else's table?
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / awesome product on: February 22, 2005 03:03:43 PM
Aleen's "Transfer It" seems to rock my socks, baby!!!! I bought a bottle of it and never used it and finally I did. You smear this thick white crap onto a photocopy (or magazine page...) and put that onto your fabric, smoothing out bubbles. 24 hours later when it's dry you heat set it with an iron for 30 secs and soak it in water and rub off the paper (which takes a lot of time) and when it's all over you end up with a beautiful reverse image. I totally recomend using it. I am going to try a b&w image on a black shirt to see if i get just the white. Might be cool. Anyone else try this stuff?
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Beading a cardigan help needed on: February 20, 2005 10:55:46 AM
I want to bead, rather than embroider, little pink skulls onto my sweet black cardigan. Anyone do stuff like this? I don't need help with the picture, I need help knowing how to do the beading. Is each bead sewn on separately? Do I use a backing? I have tons of little glass beads from old sweaters and I want to use them.
14  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Ideas for girls scouts needed on: January 20, 2005 11:27:07 AM
I'm my daughter's brownie leader. We meet for one hour once a week. I have a lot of ideas, but sometimes I need things that relate to what's going on in the book. Has anyone been a leader or remember any kewl crafts they did as a scout? These girls are great. They're smart, clever, independent.... I love them. And they love doing things. Challanges are welcome.

Also, I want to get them involved in a charitable cause. Perhaps something for soldiers or the homeless. But I want them to see this project through, begining to end. Like if they make a quilt I want them to package it and give it to the charity. You know, like putting a face to the human it goes to. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / how to start a SnB on: January 12, 2005 07:53:54 AM
Have any of you started one? I want to start one by me and would like some advice. And if you have, have there been any turf wars between your group and another knitting group?
16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / KNITTERS BEWARE on: January 04, 2005 04:04:24 AM
It was a day, like any other. I was rushing to get to the school on time. I was going to be a substitute one-on-one for a special needs kid. I hed to get there early enough to get him off the bus. I threw my knitting in my humongous vinyl Nine West bag I bought about 6 years ago. Back then it was my stylish diaper bag in disguise. Now it served as my knitting carry-all. With the bag slung over my right sholder behind me I opened the car door and pushed myself in. Just then a searing pain in the ass made me leap out only to realise a size 10 needle had ripped it's way through the bag due to the weight and force of my body. I saw it had also stuck into my ass. Yes, ladies and gents, I impaled myself with my own knitting. And just like a cowboys and indians movie from my fathers childhood, I grabbed it like an arrow, clenched my teeth, and pulled. The needle was in there, the fleshy side of the cheek, about an inch. Hospital e.r. sent me home with a script for an antibiotic. No stitches for fear of sealing in any bacteria. Now I knit with a limp.

19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / not even a project, sorry on: November 24, 2004 06:40:43 AM
I just had to tell. This is so cool.... I work in a fabric shop that sells yarn and since the boa scarf craze and now the (barf) poncho fad I've been "counceling" many a lady/girl on knitting. Well, one of my loyal customers is about 60, like my mom, and it was HER daugter who taught HER to knit. How cool is that?
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Want to make a baby mobile on: November 16, 2004 03:47:57 AM
Has anyone ever knitted tiny shapes or animals and made a mobile for over a baby's crib. Know where to get some inspiration? My cousin who I rarely speak to is having another baby and I'd like to make something. The second kid never gets that big party and is left with a lot of hand-me-downs so I thought this would be cool.
