21  Button Down Shirts to Circle Skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Eliea on: September 27, 2010 02:27:47 PM
This is NOT my original idea but this beast has taken me over a month to finish and I must show it off!
The Hubs cleared out his stuff and gave the clothing all to me. (he's well trained and appreciates my thriftiness) So I had a bunch of button down shirts that I knew exactly what I wanted to do with. I've been eying Indietut's tut for the piecework button down shirt to circle skirt.
And so I set to work. I used 3 button down shirts, and one pair of stretchy pants from a thrift store rag bag that I'd been saving to make the skirt. I even pieced together strips to make the waistband.

I think my favorite parts of this skirt are the fact that I left the front pockets in so I have pockets! (YES) and the button panels. Though I do not like the drawstring waist. It's not quite what I wanted and so I'll probably change that to all elastic.

The clippies are not quite what was wanted so they're no longer reserved and up for anyone to pick:

Purple and pink available at this time but I can do other colors. Smiley
Also I've changed the price of the clippies and you now can pick 2 pair for 1pt!

while making button clippies for troublet's Emily I made these too:

A pair for 1 pt (2 pairs available). The buttons are plastic so very light. This kind of clip works well in pretty much all hair types. I have fine and thick hair and it works for me. My sister has fine thinner hair and it works for her. I've also give my baby sis a pair and it works in baby hair. (though if you want baby clippies I have some that are small for baby hair.)
Sales pitch over. lol

24  Reflective Cat Harness in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by Eliea on: September 14, 2010 08:44:16 AM
We've decided it's unfair to only let one of our two kitties be indoor outdoor so we're letting them both outside.
The problem is Kes want's to go out at night too. Black cat in a dark street not a good idea. (Our street would be better lit if the power company would come fix the street light that has a short in it and keeps burning out bulbs every 10 days)
Anywho I bought her 2 different harness's to make reflective but none fit right. Kes is odd shaped.
So I bought 2 1.00 dog collars gutted them and used satin ribbon and reflective tape and made her a new harness.
She actually likes it a lot and purred when I put it on her.
(she's squinting from the flash and you can see the reflective tape at work!)

(right after I put it on her. She's testing to make sure it fits unlike the previous two store bought ones.)

Geared up now let me out!
Please note this harness is not meant to serve any purpose other than be reflective.
Love to know what you think!

25  Re: Suggestions on how to make quilts with different sized blocks in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Eliea on: September 13, 2010 01:12:08 PM
I drew on one to help you out.

I didn't outline all of the squares but it looks to me like there are some "squares" And some strips. and then possibly a border of strip squares done to make it look "off". Also I notice some things are appliqued on top like the bibs to make it look like they were quilted right in.
I know next to nothing about quilts but I would make sections in strips and squares, leave some pieces alone if they are big and place and go from there. Save your scraps till you get to this stage as you may need some fillers to make it even.
Just my 2 cents. Smiley

26  Re: 10 recons :)....lots of pics!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Eliea on: September 11, 2010 11:46:47 AM
I wrote this up really quick, so if you have any questions, please ask Smiley

I used a men's XL shirt.  It is jersey so I did not have to hem, although it may look cute with a zig-zag stitch around the edges....hmmm...

[img width=100 height=75]http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/thumbs/160814_11Sep10_2010-09-11_16_40_45.jpg[]

So one men's XL shirt did the whole top! Awesome I have a few in my stash that will be perfect then.
thanks so much! I'll make sure to keep you posted on it! It looks like a fairly simple recon so I can work on it this week! Smiley
Thanks again!

27  Re: Shop the Swap 42 **Shops only**signups to Sept 25 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Eliea on: September 08, 2010 01:04:28 PM

Hello! I'm a Housewife of 4 years and we have 6, 4 legged, children. They are 1 giant yellow dog, 1 small shepherd mix, 3 crazy cats, and 1 silly ferrets. The ferrets are caged for their own safety. The dog is in the craft room but in a kennel and all craft items are kept in plastic or out of reach. Cat hair is pretty common but I am totally willing to wash/lint roll, and items you claim. We do not smoke.
(unless I set a small toaster oven fire. It's been known to happen.)
I live in the Southern part of the USA.

SHOP IS:

Pirate Button Hair Clippies

I have 2 pairs of pirate button clippies availible.

Button Cluster Hair Clippies

Claim as Pink button clippies

Claim as purple button clippies
I can make more of these in whites, greys blues, and maybe greens. Pm me!

Deer fur scrap bag

If anyone else is interested I can do at least 2 more of these. Possibly 3. Willing to do a quart bag for 2 points.

Custom sock monkey, giraffe, or elephant:
Pick your pair :
Baby Purple Stripes(1pair), Baby Solid Purple(1 pair), Blue/black stripes(1pair), Black(1pair), Fluffy Sherbert Colors(1pair)
baby green pink stripes(1pair), Baby Solid Green(1pair), Grey w/pruple/blue/pink stripes(1pair), Fluffy Neopolitan solors(1pair)

Please note the baby socks may not work well for the giraffe. I can try to make a small giraffe with the green colors or purple fluffy socks but not the purples on the top left(they lack the cuff needed for it).
Then pick your animal:
monkey: Giraffe: Elephant:
Or I can do the oldschool red-heel elephant too:

Pick button or embroidered eyes.
Animals will be machine sewn!

Little Ditty Bag
Teal claimed by aeronberry!!! I can make one more in this color though if someone wants it! Lavender is available. Bags are between 4-6 inches tall and about that wide around the circular bottom.
I can make these taller by doubling yarn for 2 points. Don't see a color you like? PM me and I'll see what's in my stash same point value!

Crocheted  Cuff
Made with acrylic baby fine yarn and crocheted. This has delicate plastic pearl buttons and is really easy to fasten. It's a bit too big for my wrist and my wrist measures 7 inches:

Safety Pin Earrings
Can be made with any solid or 2 colors. The current pair is green/clear. I can also do up to 2 safety pins per earring.
They are permanently closed so you do not risk them popping open and spilling beads everywhere.

Pop-tab Earrings
Made with pop tabs from real soda pop cans. They are extremely lightweight and feel like you aren't wearing anything! Please note that my wire wrapping is much better now than it was then. These are my personal pair and they are about 2 years old. you will receive a brand new pair.

Please note: style of pop tab may vary slightly as they are donated to me and typically brands vary slightly.

1/4 point items:
also you can claim any one of these for free with any regular claim![/]
i]PLEASE NOTE: For feather hair accessories you can wear them like these examples to hold hair or just for decoration! I wore my test version all day today even to the store for groceries in the wind and it held just fine:

Feather pointing down, feather pointing up, decoration

Feather Hair barrettes
These are made on a felt base which is glued to a barrette like these.
The feathers are dyed and are either Chicken or pheasant. Don't see a color you like? Or perhaps want a specific combination? Pm me I have many to choose from! opening of barrettes are on the left side of the picture.(but you can't see them as they are underneath the feathers.

Claim as (left to right):blueblackwings, Blueblackpirate, fluffywhitegreen

Feathered Bobby Pins
Made similarly to those above these are mounted on a bobby pin instead of a barrette. They also have pheasant and chicken feathers:
Both of these also open on the left of the photo. I just made the feathers going opposite of each other this time.

Claim as(left to right): apirateslifeforme, bluegreenswish

Single Feather Bobby Pins
once again chicken or pheasant feathers attached to a bobby pin. I think these are really cute and fun! Oh the two pink ones look the same but actually the feathers face opposite directions. Opening to bobby pins are once again on the left.

29  Re: Post Secret Round 13 Gallery (Sent out August 18, 2010) in The Swap Gallery by Eliea on: August 29, 2010 06:23:49 PM
I received these this week. I'm surprised as I received 6 cards instead of 5. I suspect someone sent me 2 cards. If this is you you need to contact the organizer!
Also sad as this means I've received all of the ones I should be getting.

I completely HATE half my job! I would rather go home sick and risk loosing it than do it. I'm afraid I'm not that good. Although, people tell me I am!

When I adopted my Dog from a shelter, I thought I was saving him... After 10 years of depression, I finally had reason to get up each day &  Let myself experience Unconditional love. It turns out he saved me.

My 9 housemates- My Closest friends throughout college- screwed me over for $340.

More than anything else, I am afraid of being alone.
