1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Wishblade Questions on: December 05, 2007 10:33:53 AM
First, I hope this is the place to post this! Apologies if it is not. I have some questions for Wishblade owners:

1) Do you like your Wishblade? Do you often create/import your own art and cut it?

2) Does anyone use a Wishblade with a Mac? How does that work for you?

3) Anyone heard anything about the current problems with ordering the Wishblade right now?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Matching decreases with increases? on: November 08, 2007 11:23:08 AM
Intro:
I bought an a**-load of sugar and cream to make Xmas hand towels and dishcloths. That day, I see the fun bias-knit squares goin on over at masondixonknitting.com. An idea is born.

The problem:
When I try to make squares, they are not square. My decreases don't match my increases.

The Question:
Which increases go with which decreases? I've tried M1L with SSK and ended up with two sides that were too long. Pulling it into shape off the needles helped, but not enough to make it look decent.

Thoughts? Feelings?

Thanks!
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Best sources for wool felt? on: September 17, 2007 01:14:48 PM
I'm looking for a good source for wool felt.

Does anyone know of:

  • A good online store?
  • A national retailer that sells good wool felt?
  • An independant store in the Boston area?

Thank you!
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Are decorative craft papers protected by copyright? on: July 10, 2007 07:59:39 AM
Here's the story: I made a bunch of bookmarks for myself using decorative papers from Michaels, PaperSource, etc., as well as other elements. People liked them, and a friend suggested I start selling them. So now I'm on the verge of opening an Etsy store, and here's my question:

are these decorative papers under copyright? Can I sell products made with them? I have a sinking feeling the answer is "no", but I can't find any topic on here that's already discussed this.

If I'm missing something hyper-obvious, please excuse my ignorance =).
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / commercial scented oils and their safety in candle-making soap-making, etc. on: January 16, 2007 05:55:00 PM
I'm thinking of starting to make scented candles, and here's the question:

Am I safe to use commercial scented oils that are designed to be used in burners? I've been told by store staff that it is not safe, but I have no indication on the product that it would not be safe in a candle.

Specifically, I'm talking about scented oils available from Body Shop and Bath and Body Works.

Thanks for your expertise! Huh
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Architectural embroidery (with links to pics) on: January 15, 2007 11:48:24 AM
Hello! I've been so inspired looking at all the wonderful pieces here, and now I'm submitting one of my works for the first time:

This embroidery is worked in backstitch on 22-gauge aida with black DMC floss. The design is an interpretation of an Illustration from a 1920s modernist French architect, Robert Mallet-Stevens. I gave it to my architectural historian father for Christmas. It is highly imperfect, which I have trouble accepting, but here goes:

Thanks for looking!
