1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Looking for an updated/fashionable Aran pattern on: September 19, 2007 05:48:27 AM
My 15 year old daughter wants an Aran type sweater.  She likes the look of the Aran patterns.  She has pointed out sweaters over the past year, but I know she is looking at the cables/bobbles and not really the shape of the sweaters she is showing me.  If I am going to tackle an Aran (my first), I would like it to be something she would really wear.  Does anyone know of any Aran patterns that are a bit more fashion-forward or just with a not so boxy, shapeless silhoulette.  She is very petite and I would like something comfy, but flattering.  It seems like I am asking for a lot, huh?  If someone knows of any designers or a specific pattern, I would love you to point me in the right direction.  If I am crazy enough to be thinking about trying Aran knitting, I want to jump on it before I come to my senses!!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a simple, drawstring shorts pattern on: May 03, 2007 06:05:32 AM
Does anyone know of a simple, drawstring shorts pattern?  I was thinking of knitting some up for my teenage daughters and I thought it would be a good stashbuster.  I have a lot of Koigu and I thought some cute lounge shorts would be fun.  Any ideas on where to find a simple pattern?

Thanks!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / stupid question...armhole measurements on: March 15, 2007 05:01:41 AM
I know this is a dumb question and probably really obvious, but.....

I am decreasing for an armhole and the patterns says to knit until armhole measures 8 inches.  Okay...do I measure the actual curve of the armhole or do I measure straight up from the beginning of the armhole??  Does this make sense?

Thanks for any help.  I don't know why I am all of a sudden drawing a blank, but I am!

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Quilt finishers/backers in Los Angeles area on: November 17, 2006 05:21:08 AM
I knit, I don't quilt, but I love quilts.  I purchased a quilt top in a New Orleans antique stores about 10 years ago and I never got it backed or filled.  Does anyone know of someone/someplace in the Los Angeles area that does this kind of work for a reasonable price?

Thanks for any info!
