11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pansy Motif for tablecloth on: October 14, 2007 11:19:40 AM
Okay, the whole tablecloth isn't finished, but I felt so good about just getting the pansy done. I've tried three or four times to come up with a design I like. There is a bunch of these in each corner, latticing all the way around the edges, and a smattering of small pansies in the center.

It should be finished when I'm ready to retire. Haha.

Stitches used--

Split Stitch ( yellow petals, burgundy, gold,)
Chain Stitch-( outline for petals)
Satin Stitch-(Brown 'eyes', yellow center)
Outline stitch-( green around 'eyes', purple, burgundy outline around flower, yellow line inside of chains stitch)

What d'ya think...is it worth finishing? My mother said I was crazy for making that much work for myself. I'm inclined to agree! Wink

12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Miniature Menstrual Magnetism on: June 06, 2007 02:22:59 AM
A magnet especially for funky healthwise women...a miniature cloth pad! ( It could also be a keychain.) Okay...so I don't know if anyone would actually want a pad magnet, Roll Eyes , but I've made over a hundred lifesize pads, and just got the wild idea to try a mini. I used a small scrap of cloth, from cutting out an all-in-one...so waste not, want not!   Hope you enjoy..my Mum thought I was nuts!! Cool What do you think?

13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Itsy Bitsy Pincushions! on: February 15, 2007 03:57:12 AM
Here are some embroidered pincushions that I made a couple of years ago. They are about an inch and a half across, and have crocheted edgings. Originally they were also sachets, but they have long since lost their sweet smell!

This one is just lays in my sewing basket. I use it all the time, because it is too small for the needles to get lost inside.

This one was meant to hang from a sewing box/basket or worktable. However, right now it's just hanging on the wall as decoration.

I designed both embroidery patterns. That's why they aren't very good! Cheesy
14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidered towels for Mummy on: February 08, 2007 08:54:23 PM
A gift for my Mother that I made over the weekend. Two new hipped up towels!Hand embroideryfrom Aunt Martha's transfers.

A monogram in satin stitch. A bit crooked, but really fun over the plaid.

And the world's reddest towel! This pattern was from the wine country collection. It looked so sleek, just couldn't wait to get my hands...er...needles on it!

15  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Girly Flannel Rice Pack on: February 08, 2007 07:35:27 PM
I just had to try one! I found the flannel for a bargain-it was marked a dollar, I got it for ten cents. And it had those cool stripes that were just perfect for marking dividing lines. Smiley

Sewn by hand. You can see I was too lazy to pick the thread bits off of it!

Nice and heavy. And it stays warm forever!
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hot Pink Rose embroidery on: February 06, 2007 04:10:39 PM
Someone gave me the kit as a gift, and I loved the hot pink color. It was my first intro to long and short stitch. The dots were supposed to be candlewicked, but I just made plain knots sans wax.  Undecided

17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Weird purple doily on: January 31, 2007 04:23:46 PM
It reminds me of those wagon wheel macaronis!  Cheesy

It's from a pattern book for table runners and placemats, but I can't find the book or the title. My first time working bars and lacets.
18  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / black on black rose embroidery on: January 30, 2007 09:27:59 PM
This was supposed to be a mattress protector for ' that time of the month'. But it turned out too small, so it was never used. It now serves as a place mat/table protector under a flower pot.

Black on black embroidery. I drew the rose on free hand, traced quarters for the corner circles, and used a ruler to make the 'lattice'. The lattice is emboridered in outline stitch, and 'quilts' through the four layers of material. ( hard.)

Hand sewn/emboridered.Outline stitch, chain stitch, and some satin stitch.

Full shot. doesn't show up very well, does it?

Detail shot.

I am thinking of a zombie princess skull for the next one!  Cheesy
19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Funky bird dresser scarf-Img hvy on: January 24, 2007 03:41:43 AM
I wish I had taken a 'before' pic  Roll Eyes, this started out snow white, and had a simple pattern for two robins stamped on it in cross stitch. I dyed it with tea, and then jazzed up the birds. They were kind of scrawny in the original. Now they are plumpies!

stitches used-Satin, outline, chain, ladder, backstitch, seed stitch, frenchknot, split stitch, long and short stitch.

Full length, with my comforter standing in as background-

Mama Bird-

Daddy Bird-

Detail of Daddy Bird-

Butterfly detail-

Decorative border in couching stitch ( tough!)-

Too bad their legs didn't show up better-they are wearing stripey stockings!

Well-that's all, thanks for looking!
20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidered Butterfly Pillowcase on: January 22, 2007 04:16:53 PM
My new pillowcases! Sorry about the picture not being the best-the cases are supposed to be lavender!

This was supposed to be a detail shot, showing the 'pearl' beads, and the lavender satin stitch butterfly.

Entire motif. Includes satin stitch, outline stitch, chain stitch, straight stitch, and french knots. From and Aunt Martha transfer pattern.
