1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Surprise Jacket + Hat on: July 23, 2007 10:00:41 PM
It seems all my friends are having babies right now.  Imagine my surprise when my Mom told me she's pregnant...with twins. Enter the baby surprise jacket, by Elizabeth Zimmerman:

I made a hat with the leftovers, and made the cat model it:

She didn't seem to mind.

You can find more pictures on my flickr page:

And more details about the sweater on my blog.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hard cover DPN holder on: July 10, 2007 04:59:41 PM
I stabbed myself one too many time with the dpns swimming at the bottom of my knitting bag, so I decided to do something about it. I designed it to look like a book so that I can just stick it on the book shelf with all the knitting books.  This is absolutely one of my favorite things I've made (including most of the knitting!)

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sunset dress on: July 07, 2007 01:14:05 PM
I had hoped to finish this dress in time for a vacation to Mexico, but no go.  Instead, I finished it in time to wear to a 4th of July party/bbq.  I got the fabric on super clearance at a Hancock's nearby that was going out of business.  I have a hard time finding dresses that fit properly, especially in the erm, bust region, so I just made one myself.  I didn't use a pattern, just kind of tried it on as I went.  I love it!

There are a couple more pictures and more info on my blog.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / New overnight bag (because I don't own a typewriter) on: January 12, 2007 04:34:21 PM
My sister was cleaning out her closet recently when she found an old typewriter case given to her by our grandpa.  She didn't want it, so I claimed it, and turned it into a an overnight suitcase.  The paper I lined the inside with is called "Fire Disco Fever" which is my favorite part  Grin

5  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Vogue 8251 Halter Top on: October 16, 2006 05:35:28 PM
I finally got around to making this pattern (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.V8251=x&TI=20001& )that I bought over the summer.  It was pretty easy, though the bow thing in the front didn't really work out, so I just tucked it under.  I'd recommend it to any beginner, I think this is maybe the 2nd? thing I've made from a real pattern.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit Teddy Bear *with link to free pattern* on: August 31, 2006 06:08:38 PM
I got an early start on Christmas gifts this year and made this teddy bear for my little 1 1/2 year old cousin.  It probably took 3 hours for the bear, and then another 2 for the sweater.  The sweater design I made up using a skein of Sugar 'n Cream, the teddy bear used one skein of Berroco's Chincilla in an off white color.

Super easy, super cute, and super cheap!

The pattern can be found here: http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/harry/harrybear.html.
7  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Candy Stripers Laptop Bag on: August 18, 2006 09:27:17 AM
Hey whaddya know, there's a whole thread for SNB stuff.  Hopefully the pics are fixed now.

I was horrified when I found this unfinished project from almost two (!!) years ago, so I made a vow to finish it this summer.  I couldn't find the yarn they used in the pattern so I substituted Cascade 220, and just sort of loosely followed the pattern since my gauge and measurements were way off.
Here's before:

And after:

With the lining I made:

And the requisite pose:

This was the first time I've felted anything in the washing machine and I think it worked pretty well, I only had to put it through once. (Hence, it only cost me a dollar).  It could have gone more, but I think it looks good as is.   There are also a few more pictures on my blog, if interested.

Ciao!
