41  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pattern for this, you know only crochet? on: August 10, 2006 08:03:40 PM
I saw your post, and I remember seeing a similar item on the "completed project" discussion board by skullseamstress---(under the heading " finally finished--goth stripey sleeves). Maybe if you messaged her, she'd help you out with the pattern. Good luck!
42  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Another help question: starting chain on: August 10, 2006 06:46:59 PM
Ok, I'm a beginner hooker, and I have a serious problem. I figured out my gauge for my sweater, and did the starting chain with a hook that was 2 sizes larger than my current hook. I even tried it on for size. Unfortunately, the sweater goes lower on my hips than I thought...and now the starting chain is too tight! Any suggestions as to how I could loosen it? I thought I might be able to put a SC at the bottom, cut out the starting chain and tie off the end. Sigh...lots of hours into this sweater (the unseamly sweater from happy hooker).

HELP!!!
43  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / pattern for bulky/worsted yarn-help! on: August 09, 2006 11:23:44 PM
I'm a beginner crochet-er who just made the ultimate mistake--I bought the wrong yarn for the pattern. Unfortunately for me, I love this yarn--it's Reynold's Rapture in natural--50% wool, 50% silk--which is listed as either a worsted or a bulky yarn depending on what website you look at.

I originally started out trying to do the "unseamly sweater" from happy hooker. I checked my gauge (J-hook), but apparently didn't do it well enough, since I was halfway up the back piece before I realized that I was making a dress, not a sweater. When I rechecked my gauge again, it was fine horizontally, but long vertically (?!?). Unfortunately, I bought the yarn on sale (it was still expensive), so there's no returning it.  Undecided

Does anyone have a pattern out there for a sweater/tank that uses a bulky yarn, around 640 yards and would fit a size small? I've looked and looked and am at my wit's end--most shirts or tanks use a DK or a worsted that is lighter than this yarn, and I'm sick of making scarves, shawls and hats. Thanks!
