So cute! I really like him. He's called a Maneki Neko, which I believe means beckoning cat. You find them in Asian shops, or sometimes outside the door--they are meant to beckon in money and luck.
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Hello Kitty Kimono on: January 21, 2007 11:31:16 PM
My daughter asked me to make her a kimono for her Hello Kitty. I have a Japanese book on making kimono for children, it was fairly easy to scale  it down to a stuffed animal, although a bit challenging to adapt to kitty's proportions. It ended up being a bit bunchy across the shoulders but my daughter was satisfied.

I got lazy in the end and just did a plain bow for the obi, I may redo it with something more elaborate.

I've had to put myself on a budget for Japanese crafting books. Everytime I get a new one I find more that I want. This is a great website for referencing ISBN numbers.

That's such a great idea with the newspaper. I had seen how to make blocks using milk cartons, but you needed two for every block and that's a lot of cartons! But with your idea, you can use all different kinds.

The ISBN is 4834720594

Amazon JP has it, Yesasia.com does not

A great website for referencing Japanese craft books and their ISBNs is
