801  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Pantyhose/Tights/Nylons on: May 19, 2004 01:38:55 PM
I love making stocking people! My art teacher makes really cute ones... mine doesn't compare, but here it is, anyway:

All I did was take an old knee-high that didn't fit and cut the top off. I used cotton batting (you can use the insides of an old pillow, if you want, or even cotton balls) to stuff the toes and leg. I made it into a round shape, much like a potato.
Then I tied up the top. I sewed into it, making a round nose. Next, I drew on facial features using a sharpie. You can attach googley eyes, yarn for hair, or a button for the nose. Be creative! My art teacher has an Elvis one, a leprechan, a santa claus, etc. The list can go on and on.
You can even make really little ones and attach them to pin-backs and add cloth decorartions. My art teacher did this and they looked really cute!

Hm. That's a different idea. I could use someone's ribs on a "ribbed tee." Hahaha. I'm a dork.

Similar to the link above, they can be used to make a nice anklet or bracelet. You can go simple with black and white beads with a dice every few centermeters, or you can be elaborate and use different sized dice in different colours.
804  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Jean Back Pockets on: May 19, 2004 01:12:45 PM
I used to cut off my jean pockets, too! I used fabric paint and decorated the pockets. I used it as a pencil case at school. They were such a hit that I even sold and gave some away! More recently, I sewed the pocket on to a striped canvas bag. The bright stripes and the jean pocket looked really good, and make an even better beach bag! The small pocket is used for keys and money, etc, wile the main part holds larger stuff.

I love that idea! And wow, my two cats look EXACTLY like yours! Here's a pic, because I'm such a dork.

Libby 10 months

Lucy 10 years

Well, those aren't the best pics that I have of them... but you get the idea.
807  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Necktie Skirt!! (Pics + Tutorial) on: May 19, 2004 12:39:44 PM
Wow, that skirt looks great! I want to make one... I think I'd need about 15 ties, as well. This is a great project, because it's so easy to get ties. Thrift stores sell them for a mere quarter, and my guy friends would probably be more than willing to get rid of their ties.  Cheesy

If you suck at sewing, you can always try this idea I got from my cousin. She got an old pillow and put it inside the tee and used ribbon to make corners...
Let me rephrase that. She took ribbon and made sort of a "pony tail" with the shirt in the four corners of the pillow. I think that makes sense....
Anyway, the point is, it doesn't require any sewing.
