1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Will my plan work?? on: November 29, 2007 05:25:07 AM
I just got a copy of the new interweave knits and it has a pattern for a celtic bag that I just want.

http://www.interweaveknits.com/galleries/bonus/winter2007/tallapaneni.asp

However, I just finished my lady eleanor shawl and need to do small projects for a while.  I want this as my diaper bag.

Now, I have a couple of wool sweaters, plain fisherman type.  If I sew them into bag shape and felt it, i want to know if can I do needle felting for the design?

Any suggestions would be helpful and if it can't be done, please feel free to tell me so.

Thanks so much
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / can I block in the middle of a project? on: August 10, 2007 03:56:27 PM
I am working on Lady Eleanor and I think I might have knit enough but I don't want to cast off in case I haven't.  Can I block mid project (if I take it off the needles and run a piece of yarn through the stitches)?
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I MUST have this dress. on: February 12, 2007 03:50:23 PM
I was watching an episode of How I met your mother (cupcake episode) last night.  Allison Hannigan was wearing this dress.  I need to find a pattern.

or some way to make it.  I LOVE IT.

Can anyone help?
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / stuffed animal, pattern on back of fun fur on: January 24, 2007 03:06:43 PM
When I was in grade school about (18 years ago) my family studies teacher had us order stuffed animals to sew for class.  The animals had the pattern printed right on the back of the fur.  You would just cut it out and sew it together.  I cannot remember what the name of the company was or how to find it if it still exists.  The kit came with plastic eyes and other stuff you needed to complete your project.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / waterproofing fabric on: January 22, 2007 06:30:09 AM
Does anyone know how I might waterproof regular fabric?  Someone once told me that you can get some stuff in a bottle and add it to the machine. Does this sound right?

Thanks
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Stoke-on-trent purse on: January 21, 2007 03:08:51 PM
I actually made this in Jan of last year.  I used bias tape to sew the zipper to the purse.

This is the original pattern and purse

and this is my purse

The black yarn was standard Paton's Wool unfortunately I don't remember what I used for the red.  This is my favorite purse.

Unfortunately the horns fell but I will get over there to fix them.  Look at that little face.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / sneaker socks? on: January 14, 2007 07:10:26 AM
I am sorry if it is here already but I cannot seem to find it.   A while ago, when I was NOT knitting socks yet, I saw a pattern for low cut socks, almost like pompom.  They would be hidden at the sides of your shoes.  Any one know?

Thanks
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / can't stop on: December 05, 2006 08:24:42 AM
I can't stop making these felt animals,  here is the tutorial from Buzzfuzzlerumdum.  I found the link in the pet related craft section.

These are so quick to sew up (I love the overstitching on the outside)and one of my cats really likes them (the other is not so interested).  She actually ran into the room carrying the mouse last night looking to play and she hasn't done that in a long time.
