1521  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Make me a Scarf Swap 2 Signups 10/8/06- 10/10/06 on: October 15, 2006 03:00:18 PM
Michael's is having a big yarn sale all week, so I think I'll try to head over there tomorrow!  In the mean time, I found a perfect project for the yarn that I bought that was wrong!

Yeah. I work there. There was an ass-load of people there today buying cart-fulls of yarn. And there was some sort of Knit Lite/Knifty Knitter demo. But it's okay cause I get an extra discount.

And I'm almost finished with mine, too...but maybe that's not really a big feat because I'm sewing it.

I don't know if it works for old stains, but shampoo gets out stains really well.
1523  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: I got 50 records for free on: September 07, 2006 02:08:41 PM
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but is there a tutorial somewhere on the clock made from a record?  I've seen it mentioned, but haven't come across any directions...still quite new to the forum.
Thanks!

You can buy clock hands and motors at Michael's or hobby lobby or other craft stores. Or you can bring AA batteries to the thrift store and test and buy a working clock and then take the hands out of that one.

There was a cool clock I saw that would be extremely easy to make. You get a LP record (the larger ones) and an AOL disk or an old CD and clock insides. You hot glue the AOL disk to the record so that it is centered and the shiny side(the information side) is out. Then you put the clock hands in and there you go!

No, you aren't supposed to open them up. Since it is electrical and the lava part is pretty toxic, I'm not sure you can do anything with it.

I have that coat rack!

if you wanted to use it as a purse hanger, you can reenforce the existing hooks with nails or screws.. if you use screws, i think you'll have to use a drill, not just a screwdriver, unless holes already exist. you can attach it to a stand either nailing/screwing it on from the bottom or from the top at an angle.

If you wanted to paint it, you could sand it first. Unless you plan on playing it, and then I have no idea how decorating it or sanding it would affect the acoustics.

earrings... if you can get a hole through them. They would make cute one that hung on a chain by themselves or if you put a few on the same chain. Also, you could make bracelets/necklaces for your friends around valentine's day and write stuff on them like the candy hearts.. or make the earrings like that.
