1491  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: HANDS ACROSS THE WATER: US to UK (and back) SWAP, ROUND 3! on: February 13, 2007 12:44:08 PM
pseudo UKer really since I'm from Ireland

isn't ireland part of the united kingdom/britain, along with england and scotland? I thought the UK was different from england.

Kindereggs (illegal here).

kindereggs are illegal? For what reason? I've seen someone send those in a swap before, and I brought some of them back from when I went to europe.

How much would you say, on average, it would cost to ship a package overseas? I want to do this swap, but I don't know if I can if shipping is too much.

I received from Aeronberry today. She sent me "The Hiding Place" by Corrie ten Boom with John and Elizabeth Sherrill about "the extraordinary adventure of one courageous woman who became a militant heroine of the anti-Nazi underground." I plan to read it once I finish my current book.

1495  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: crafty detective swap round 2 SIGNS UP 1-feb till 10 feb. SEND OUT: MARCH 17 on: February 01, 2007 05:15:30 PM
This is such a cool idea, but unfortunately, I cannot join. I only have a little over 65 posts, and most of them are not things I have made.. let's just suffice to say that it would be the most complicated detective job for my partner.. Roll Eyes

(I asked about the flash because it looked like pictures that develop when people put their fingers over the flash)

Hmmm. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with them. I was thinking maybe a lamp shade, but I'm not sure if that would work... I am still awaiting a brilliant revelation to occur as to what I'm gonna do with them.

And I'm not sure if I want to part with them, there are some I know for sure that I want to keep, and I haven't even looked through all of them. Maybe once I look through all of them, I will decide if I want to get rid of some... if you have a brilliant beyond brilliant idea, I'm sure I could find some to part with.

(sorry for the bad lighting, this was the best I could do without my flash making the slides blend into my rug)

You can't turn the flash off? Smiley I found a TON of those old slides at the thrift store and I bought all of them. When I say a TON, I mean probably three or four plastic bags (the size of grocery store bags) full...all of other people's tossed memories.

okay.. I am confused by this swap. I have one person I send to, but a different user said they are sending to me.  Huh Is this because there were an uneven number of people?

My book list is here:

(and I guess if you really want to, you could read my journal, but it's kind of dull.)

Just FYI, I am going on retreat starting tomorrow and will not be back until Friday evening.

something I just thought of that might reduce the risk of sending a book your partner already has. I'm going to ask my partner to list all of the books that she/he has by a few different authors that I think she/he will like based upon the questionnaire (probably 3 or 4 of them) Then I'm going to use that list pick something that she/he doesn't have. That way it will still be a surprise.

I have compiled a list of all the books I own for my partner... because I have nothing better to do, really. Smiley
