It's been a while since I've been around these parts but lots has happened like we have moved to India!
Well, even though we live in a different country, I still loooooove crafts and there happens to be TONS here.
I just love walking around the markets and checking out all the amazing hand work that people have done.
To that end, I was thinking about selling it to people back home and that maybe crafters would be a good audience. Some possible products are shown below


While most things aren't immediately wearable in the western world like sarees and large shawls I thought maybe crafters could use some as raw materials.
Could you please let me know if you would be interested in purchasing something like these and how much you would pay? For instance, the bottom left picture, I would probably have to charge $30-40 for a 1m x 2m piece of fabric but it's nice quality wool and its COVERED in HAND embroidery. The silk sarees are about 5m long (and quite wide) but I would have to charge about $100. It's a lot of material though and they come in beautiful fabrics and patterns not necessarily available in the States. Embroidered pillowcases for whatever reason go for a lot less, like $10.

So I have posted here only textiles but there are LOTS of other handicraft products (wooden carvings, bamboo paintings, leather paintings, wooden housewares, brass figurines, marble inlay, etc etc) but they aren't raw materials, just finished products. I was thinking of selling those too but due to the nature of this forum wanted to concentrate on the fabric. BUT, if you have thoughts on those things or would like to see them, I'm all ears (or...eyes )

So any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

That's RIGHT a caffeine molecule beaded on the headband. I mentioned I liked science and worked in a lab on the questionnaire and she delivered!   And it's covered with a lovely black fabric that's nice to touch.

That origami one is supposed to be the 8-pointed star, but I guess it has 10 points somehow :/  Also, the blue awesome fish I didn't make.

And the OTHER reason I need to upload photos is because I received my package from DeftAnn today!! Wow! I'm so impressed by the quality of these items! I need to take lessons from her in finishing things beautifully and professionally! AND she did it in the middle of moving?! OMG. SO LOTS OF PICTURES AHEAD BEWARE

All together:

It is a lovely bag, a set of coasters, and a set of hair pins. I will explain further as we go along....

First, a set of hair pins with charms a la Cadsuane. Lovely in their simplicity! And something I would actually wear! Take THAT saidin wielders


Second, a supremely well made set of coasters featuring different bits of "RANDLAND".

But, as Deftann said in her note to me, there should be a moment of silence for the book she had to cut to make them. Understandable. May the characters find their way even without a map.

And finally a Cairhien bag!



As she says" dark on the outside (with stripes), and a little crazy on the inside." PERFECT CAIRHIEN. Wow, so this bag is so well made. I thought that maybe she got a fabric covered in nice colored ribbons, but no, I think she actually (somehow) attached them all on the fabric PERFECTLY parallel and with no visible stitching! How?! (fusible web? SAIDAR?!) WOW so impressive.  Like something you would buy. Plus there are like ten stripes so I would be pretty important in Cairhien. YUP. Ok so amazing stripes, then you OPEN the bag and BAM! AWESOME dragon lining (which coincidentally matches the silver and red stripes on the front) (and HELLO, an enormous dragon! woah). AND there are pockets which I show loaded up below (and you can see the lining):


Ok and may I once again mention how wonderfully these items are made! Superb craftsmanship!

Well, I guess I'll stop gushing because it's almost midnight. Thanks so much DeftAnn! You are AWESOME and so are your items!

I am rereading through the Wheel of Time series now. What a great series!! I could see myself whipping up some crafty goodness relating to the series. There are so many rich possibilities for ideas since Robert Jordan's world is so complex! I saw that there were suggestions for this swap earlier, but none actually happened, so here I am, trying again.

I could do it in July or later probably....
I've never organized a swap but I probably could if no one else offers.

I received an awesome package from Mellermann last week and only just now got around to posting picture (shame on me!) Enough writing, here are the pictures!




First a lovely triptych matching the color scheme of my living room (black, white, red, hints of green)
