This is what happens when my flatmate and I are trying to work out what to put all our christmas presents under and we have a male mannequin, tinsel and candy canes.
I would like to introduce you all to Bob, our Christmas Tree/House Mascot/The Man Around The House
Note: no alcohol was consumed in the creation of this Christmas Tree
I found out on Wednesday night that my mum is going in for a historectomy (sp?) in just over a week. She's been really anemic lately so we are a bit worried about the operation, the low iron is related the reason she is having the surgery. Anyway mum is going to be off work for about 7 weeks and is supposed to rest, something she finds near impossible to do (she was off work for 2 weeks recently and spent the last 3 days doing stuff around the house)
I was thinking of buying her some knitting supplies so she can at least feel like she is doing something while she is off, but I would also like to make her something. I mostly knit and sew. New clothes are out until after the surgery because she will lose a fair bit of weight in the surgery. I was planning on ordering some sari silk or something equally nice and making her a nice wrap or something but I really don't have time.
She is a real outdoor type person, loves gardening and stuff and is incredibly active. When she was pregnant with my sister she was confined to bed, my dad found her cleaning the bathtub in her sleep at 2am.
I might also get her some sketching stuff, she used to sketch and that way she can sit on the deck and sketch up some nice plans of how she wants our garden to look (what she was planning on doing this spring before this all started)
