1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: hi! and a question on: May 10, 2006 07:29:57 AM
I once had project that called for Paternayan and also had difficulty finding some. I finally resulted to ebay and found a lot of it (in lots of different colors) for $6.50... so you may want to keep checking ebay.

come to think of it, I never got around to that project so its all just languishing in my stash somewhere. I've got that book on my list so maybe I can put it to use when I finally give up on someone else buying the book for me for mother's day and just buy it myself!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Knitty's Trellis and Bev's Baby Seed Cap **Three pictures** on: May 08, 2006 10:47:51 AM
okay, that's it! I have printed out the trellis pattern no less than 3 times but have yet to actually knit it. You've inspired me to take the leap finally.

How long did your's take?

Love the blue, by the way.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Marc Jacobs scarf from "special items" on: April 20, 2006 08:16:45 AM
I agree, looks like worsted, maybe a heavier worsted, but not necessarily bulky... if that makes sense at all. The letters are definitely I-cord shaped into letters and stitched on...

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Belted Wrap Jacket from Interweave Knits Winter '05 on: April 18, 2006 05:30:43 AM
Fabulous! Perfect color too! Did it take ages and ages? I've been looking at the merino style. I keep promising that I'll make myself a sweater... alas, I'm currently in sock hell... and it's the first of the pair  Undecided

Too cute! I'm addicted to felted bags right now. I love the green lining  Cheesy
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Spend on yarn vs. clothes on: February 21, 2006 08:26:21 AM
I'm such a bargain shopper when it comes to clothes. My goal is to spend $5.00 or less (unless we're talking shoes)... I'll do $10.00 if it's something fabulous... and pretty much only spend more if it's for something special. Don't get me wrong, I have some fantastic clothing, I just buy it on clearance.

Now.. yarn is another story entirely. I just spent $32.00 on two rather smallish skeins of Kureyon Big without thinking twice... then there's my weakness for Lantern Moon needles. But hey, I'm not a yarn snob.. I'll use acrylic/inexpensive yarn, depending on what I happen to be making. I check the Hobby Lobby ad every week and will wait around for a sale on what I want.
Oh... and Knit Picks and I are close, personal friends. Wink
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cool pompom scarf... any ideas? on: February 09, 2006 12:26:43 PM
Actually, last time I was in Joann's I noticed yarn with little pom poms...however, I'm fairly sure it was only available in candyish pastels. My first thought was "my god that would be a bitch to work with"... of course, the second thought was "oh, but it'd be so cute!"

"hello, ignore my bloody fingers and hairless head... isn't my scarf fabulous??"
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: It's possible this knitting obsession is getting out of control on: February 08, 2006 01:03:21 PM
Oh sweet jesus... I too adore a guy with an Edward Norton, American History X vibe. We must share an affinity for crazyesque men with shaved heads who seriously need a good anger managament course.

Oh, I did notice the sweater first. American History X Ed would so beat that guy up.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Ignored til now! Kitty Bed on: January 11, 2006 10:57:35 AM
Now that I've somehow accumulated a feral kitten and she's somewhat acclimated to living indoors I so need to make one of those for her.

Not to mention her orange brother who is still outside but is slowly warming up to me...
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: irritating comments on: June 22, 2004 06:54:20 PM
I crochet, knit, and embroider and get the "old lady" comments all the time... then again I am 30, so in comparison to you all....

I'm also often called a nerd, weird, odd (actually, I'm the only person I know that actually uses the word "odd")... then again I work in a high school and all the kids beg for the beanie hats made by my nerdy, slightly-off, old self.

of course, I don't take many of their comments to heart since they also make fun of me for reading....

the one that drives me nuts is, "you have way too much time"... No, I just know how to spend the time that I have  Smiley
