Oooooo! I am so excited! My first felted project! I'm posting it here because they started out as crochet. Nothing too big, just infant beanies and a really cute pair of mary janes. Not sure what I'll do with them yet... Here's a pic!
Here's the two hats and the shoes.
A better pic of the shoes(I just love how they turned out!).
I was really nervous about felting them(so nervous that I forgot to take a before pic *slaps forehead*). I put them in my washer and left the top open so when it stopped agitating I'd hear it. I added a little bit of liquid detergent and 1T of baking soda. After just two cycles of washing(one right after another, I checked on them in between) I was happy with the results... It was so easy! Must do more felting...
I have been crafting my brains out as of late to keep myself busy and out of trouble. I do a lot of it while I'm at work(preschool teacher, nap time is the best!). My co-workers and parents have all commented that I should be selling the stuff I make. I'd love your opinions... I've made a few hats and some "shoes" for my daughter(as well as a ton of other projects, these are just quickies). These are all my own patterns.
two hats, both sized for maybe 12-18 mos? Chunky weight yarn, each only took a hour or two...
Crochet Mary Janes, size 12 mos? Again chunky weight yarn, only took an hour or two
I made this quilt for my Nana a few(four I think...) years ago. It was a Christmas gift.
It's only my second quilt. I love to craft in general. I've made two large quilts(this and one for my son) and two baby quilts(for my daughter). This quilt will now go on my daughter's bed(once she's out of the crib, next year or so...). My Grampa gave it back to me when Nana passed away. Quilting is good like that, family heirlooms that are passed on and on and on....
So I'm going to be starting a star shaped baby blanket pretty soon. My brother just found out he and his wife are expecting their first(YAY! They've been trying for three years!). Anyone want to join me? The pattern is here:
I went out and bought six skeins of Lion Brand Chenille Thick and Quick; two in Scarlet, two in Antique White, and two in Royal Blue. My brother is in the army(hence the red, white, and blue) and they don't know what they're having yet. I've been dying for a reason to use this super soft and cuddly yarn. So if there is anyone out there that would like to stitch this up with me, I'll most likely start this week.
So here's a picture of a halter dress I made for my six month old daughter(as well of a few other projects of mine). I sorta pulled it out of left field after searching for a pattern online and not finding anything. Not bad if I do say so myself. I'll "fly by the seat of my pants" more often... I can try to recall what I did if anyone is interested, but I make no promises. I stink at pattern writting. Anyway, comments are always appreaciated(critique and praise alike, I'm learning here).
