11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first sweater!!! on: August 09, 2008 07:36:06 PM
I've finished my first sweater!

Here are a few action shots:

Here's a link to the free pattern: The Weasley Sweater.  Very easy to follow!  I used Vanna's Choice in Taupe and Linen...

Comments are always welcome!  =D
12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Messenger Purse and Project Tote Bag on: June 29, 2008 02:26:15 PM
Spent a good part of the morning at my sewing machine today...  The results...

Both are for my Mumma... we picked out the fabrics together and I sewed them up.  No patterns, just me.  The smaller one is a project tote; for smaller knitting or crochet projects.  The long skinny strap is for either wearing across your body or knotting and then hanging off your wrist.  It's reversible too.  The other is a Messenger Purse.  There are pockets on all four outside sides, the two larger inside sides, and on the front flap.  Fully lined and the purple lining has fusible interfacing for strength and stability.  Here are a few more pics of each bag.

Thanks for looking!  Comments, questions, and critique are always appreciated.
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Socks! on: June 26, 2008 02:29:17 PM
Yay me...  I made another pair of socks, my third complete pair!

Much to my surprise I even managed to make the stripes match up!  Comments and such always appreciated!
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn Recommendations? on: June 14, 2008 07:01:32 PM
So Im dying to start knitting myself an Olive Branch Yoga Hoodie but being a newbie knitter Im not sure which yarn to use I like and prefer the feel of cotton, want something thatll hold up and not pill or look terribly worn after one or two washings, and isnt terribly expensive Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Redid the Little Bird's Nest... on: April 12, 2008 06:30:52 PM
This year for my Little's birthdays (they're 2 & 8 and the dates are within a month of each other...) Hubby and I decided to redo each of their bedrooms...  Today we finished the Little Bird's (two year old girl) room...  The walls were light green to begin with, which I liked, but I wanted to add to it...  After going up and down the aisles for an hour (drove Hubby nuts!) I decided on lavender stripes.  Here's a few progress pics...

It took more time for us to tape (that would be my Fabulous Sister... I affectionately call her Cheese, even my kids call her Auntie Cheese) than it did for us to paint...

And for the finishing touches... strung up some lights, new big girl bed (actually the top bunk of her big brother's bed), new curtains, new window hardware, new matching canopy, and a quilt that I had originally made for my Nana a few Christmases ago.  I thought it only right that my daughter now have it... she's named for Nana.  The result...

Just before bath time... hence the nakedness.

And, just because she's so darn cute...

Tomorrow, we finish the Small Boy's Room...  Thanks for looking everyone!

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Sock Wars III on: February 10, 2008 04:06:24 PM
Hey Craftsters!  Anyone else out there thinking about joining Sock Wars III?  Here's a link with all the info!  I guess it'll be great for both beginners(like me) and advanced sock knitters...  Looks like sign-ups will take place on "Bloody Valentine's Day!"  Hope  to see you in battle!
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first Knitting FO! on: February 06, 2008 05:54:12 PM
Yay for socks!

These are my first official knitting project completed... as well as first pattern followed and first ever socks(I'm a crocheter that just learned to knit so I could make socks.  I was never able to find a crochet sock pattern I liked).  I used the International Sock of Doom pattern by Julie Gardner.  I'd love some comments/critiques!

And, on a side note, seeing how this pattern is from the first round of Sock Wars... I heard that sign ups for Sock Wars III will be on "Bloody Valentine's Day."  I've never participated before, but it sure does look like fun!

18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Messenger Bag on: January 25, 2008 05:14:49 PM
I made this for a swap here on craftster... now that the DC # has confirmed delivery I figure it's safe to post...

Front... There are large pockets on the front and back, and smaller ones on both sides(for phone, ipod, keys, whatever).

The inside is divided into two compartments, both with large pockets on either side.

Back... another large pocket.

I drafted my own pattern for this one.  I have a mild zipper phobia and I've never done snaps before so there aren't any closures.  I hunted and hunted for adjustable strap hardware, but had no luck...  I'd love to hear any comments or critiques...

Thanks!
19  COOKING / Dessert / Two very yummy cookies! on: December 16, 2007 09:20:53 AM
If I should have put this on the dessert, I'm sorry and please feel free to move it!

Now for the good stuff!  Every year at Christmas I make a ton of cookies to put out during holiday dinners, give to friends and family, and of course, snack on here at home.  For two weeks straight I make one batch every night...  here are my two new favorites this year.

Chocolate Mint Thins; a free recipe from landolakes.com.  These little babies remind me of the Thin Mints that The Girls Scouts sell...

Peanut Butter Temptations; another freebie, this time from allrecipes.com.  My hubby(peanut butter freak!) keeps sneaking some out of their box in the freezer so I'm off to make another batch...

Thanks for looking and enjoy the recipes!

20  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / I'm on a shawl kick... on: December 07, 2007 07:19:20 PM
I've made three recently (as well as a few other projects)...

Seraphina's Shawl ~ my most recent one, just finished it yesterday!

A comfort shawl that I'll donate to the oncology unit that cared for my Grandparents before the passed away.

My first shawl; lion brand's easy triangle shawl.  Also a comfort shawl, this one went to a grandmother that wanted to give it to her four year old autistic grandson on his birthday.

I also made this for a friend...

BICO with a matching hat.  She gave it to a friend as a shower gift.

And I entered this in the crochet challenge (link to challenge folder):
