1  CANADA / Ontario / Creativfestival - Toronto on: August 09, 2006 12:31:52 PM
Anyone else going to the festival formerly known as the Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival? I've been to just about every one since I was about five Tongue My mum usually teaches a class or three, too, and I occasionally manage to snatch free admission :3

It's not specifically an "alternative" craft fair, but it caters to all crowds, and there are usually some good deals on fabric and beads if you look around. The fall one's huge, and I always have a great time, and buy a ton of crafting stuff t'play with Cheesy
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Seaside Earrings on: August 07, 2006 01:53:48 PM

I'm still working out how to best take pictures of small things, so bear with me on the lack of good pics >.< Anyways, I found these two shells while rummaging around my room, and decided to make earrings out of them. Since I didn't feel like figuring out how to drill or glue them, I just wire-wrapped them with a few beads Tongue The earring hooks are cheap crafty ones, since I'm out of the good kind in silver.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Plushie Wildlife (Lots of Pics) on: August 06, 2006 09:43:46 AM
I've made a whole army of these every year now for three years, to sell at a local art show near my family's cottage. I redesign them every year, and this year I was happy enough with them to take pictures before they were shipped off to be sold Sad I kinda hope one or two won't sell so I can get them back, which is kinda bad from a sales point of view.

Anywho, pictures of the critters that will be funding my university textbooks:

I made several of each (about 3-5) except the bear family one, which was one-of-a-kind and such.

4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Painting/Decorating Crocs? (Painting on Plastic Shoes?) on: July 30, 2006 11:59:36 PM
Okay, so a month ago my sister went out and bought a pair of Crocs, which are apparently now "all the rage" at her school. I tried them on, and they're the most comfortable summery shoe I've ever worn. Unfortunately, they look like large solid-colour plastic clogs. Which, y'know, they are.

Has anyone tried painting or crafting with these? I'm probably going to end up getting myself a pair, but I'd rather not keep them so plain. Any advice on paint that will stick to plastic and not wear off would be much appreciated.
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Devil Doll (and hat) (first post) on: July 30, 2006 07:56:13 PM
Okay, first time posting here after a fair bit of sporadic lurking, so I guess I should post a craft.

This is Lucifer, who is about half a year old and still doesn't have his shirt and tie. I'm terrible at finishing things. He's made out of felt, and his jacket and pants are some black slightly fuzzy stuff that I had lying around at the time. I was (and still am) pretty new to plushie making, so he's sort of crude and I'd like to redo him when I get better. The pattern's my own, but I think I've lost the pieces.

And, er, this is my Luci hat. Not really a plaything, but related to my first project here kinda O_o It's polar fleece (red, scraps of yellow) and a pipecleaner in the tail. Pattern's also my own, with reference to a fleece hat my sibling bought at a convention, and helpful advice from my mum.
