Mittens!
Really any knitted or crochet cozy mittens would be amazing. I really love wool too!
There used to be amazing mittens on craftster that looked like loose leaf paper!
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=73251.0;topicseen
The photos arent there anymore but they also had teen girl squad embroidered on them. I could do without the embroidery but mittens that look like paper!? Rad.

The franken mittens are also wicked since usually mittens means not being able to get money out of your pocket or answer your cell phone etc etc...

Learn German Kit!
The boy and I are taking a German class in the evenings and I wont name names but one of us is having a little trouble. I think that hearing spoken German really helps a lot. I was even thinking maybe some really basic kids books in German. Dick and Jane or See Spot Run style. Maybe a kids DVD or even just packages of candy with German words on them. Bribery with candy always seems to go over well. Ill take anything that might help us along.

If you or someone you know is into design I would love an image of a dinosaur riding a bike that I could put on a t-shirt. If I can be specific here, a ROAD bike!

A full length retro style apron. I love 50s style anything!
Whenever I cook I get gunk ALL OVER MYSELF!
http://www.wishingfish.com/hostaprons.html
Any on Wishing Fish are waay cute!

Bath Stuff
I have this bath salt that totally unclogs my stuffy nose! Its filled with all that good stuff like Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Peppermint. If you can make similar soap, lotion, bath bombs etc etc I would appreciate it. The stuff I currently have is called Barefoot Venus Therapeutic Mustard Bath.

Cocoa butter, Shea butter some essential oils. I like relaxing smells since we use the massage bars before bed and when we use the cinnamon one I end up awake all night! Essentially the goods to craft me some massage bars.

About Me:

Hi, Im B! Im 21 years young and I live in Alberta, Canada. I love to sew and I am currently working on my entrance portfolio for Fashion Design in Fall 2008.

This past summer I bought a bicycle and I cannot seem to get off the thing for dear life. Hey name is Lilly and she is a purple and pearlized white Specialized Dolce Elite. I bet no one knows what this means but I just had to babble about my new favourite pastime besides sewing. If you are also into bikes and have a good idea for a seat bag or a handle bar bag in matching pearlescent white vinyl by all means grab it as a wish!

I have a sensitive little nose so if you smoke please Febreeze, I am also allergic to most perfumes and cant handle strong cleaner type smells. Think lemon, orange etc etc.

My style is fairly minimal and I am trying to reign in my taste for terrible tacky items. I am trying to take my love of mismatch to a more refined place of mixing unexpected prints etc etc. That being said I am the kind of girl who doesnt even wear makeup. I role out of bed and brush my hair (sometimes). I love earth tones and rich colours. Green is my favourite followed closely by purple, brown and amber/goldenrod. I have a strange love for that mustardy/goldy colour that no one else seems to like! I like black accessories because then I can get away with pairing them with every outfit I own. I also adore elephants! REALLY. Trees and leaves and birds and anything natur-y are good themes too. When it is warm out I am constantly outside getting myself dirty and when it is cold out I'm a home-body who spends a lot of time crafting and cooking and reading.

As for dislikes I am not a fan of any brand names, pastels, and while I love Disney movies I feel that the characters are better left to children.

I tried to make this long and all encompassing since I havent posted very much and I dont have much on my wists.
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Not positive, but not negative? on: March 20, 2008 03:42:59 AM
What does an organizer do when someone sends something/anything/any old crap as the swap package?

According to Craftster guidelines, as long as they've sent, they get a positive.

What do you do when they say repeatedly that they're about to send, and the postmark is 2 weeks late?
When what they've sent is old, used and stained?
When what they've sent so clearly shows they paid no attention to the questionnaire from their partner?

I think there needs to be another feedback category, something like Neutral, to allow for "yes, they sent, but they didn't follow the communication guidelines, they didn't follow the spirit of the swap, and they really stuck it to their partner"

Anyone else ever faced this issue?

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Puffy Sleeve Pirate Sweater from Knit.1 on: January 01, 2008 09:15:51 AM
This pattern was published in the Spring 2006 Knit.1 magazine - and I've wanted to make it ever since!

It took me 10 skeins of Lion Brand Moonlight Mohair, the color was Northern Lights.

The puffiness in the sleeves and the ruffle were achieved by stepping up and down between size 4, 10 and 17 needles - I cast this on 8 days ago, so it was a quick knit!

6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Over 30 Fine Wine Geezer Swap - Sign-ups CLOSING EARLY ON 1/11!! on: December 31, 2007 04:34:33 AM
Swap name: Over 30 Fine Wine Geezer Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Dulcinea
Sign-up date range: January 1 - January 13, Partners on January 14
Date to send item by: February 14

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): Probably Not

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? no

All ages allowed? Or 18+?  Gotta be over 30 - we'll be carding people at the door.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES, Dragonflyducky
- Is a crazy old geezer:  YES

I reserve the right to deny any craftster's entrance into this swap for the following reasons...
ANY "negative" feedback comments
poor communication in past swaps
sending late in past swaps
having less than ONE completed swap  (changed from three to one)

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Must have participated in and completed at least 1 swap before this one:  YES (changed from 3 to 1)

Details of swap:
This is a swap for the geezers.  The idea here is that we've all been crafting for eons, and are pretty good at what we do.

This is also a swap where there is a sizeable commitment, both for time, and resources.  We are going to be crafting one really big, really nice item for our partner.  If you cannot commit to the time or resources, please consider carefully before signing up for this swap.

You'll make up a list of 5-10 large things that you would love if someone made for you.  You'll also make up a list of 5-10 things that you're really good at, that you'd love to make for your fellow geezers.  And if you can make it from your stash, and reduce the stash, making room for more, NEW stash, so much the better.

What's a large item, you ask?  generally, we're talking something that takes 3 or more hours, is large in physical size, or costs $30 or more in materials (or any combination of those).

If you want to add other, smaller things, please confer with your partner, so that no one feels like they didn't have a fair trade.  However, this really wasn't intended to be a package with loads of small items.

You need to post to this thread, so that it comes up as unread replies if I have something to tell y'all.

I will not tolerate flakers.  We all will have a month to craft, and send out.  That should be enough time.  A DC or Customs number is required, if available.  If you do not have a DC or Customs number, you MUST send me a scan of your postal receipt, showing that the package was sent out.

If you get to February 21 (7 days late) and have not sent out, you will get a negative.  This negative will be replaced with an in progress once your package is sent out and proof sent to the organizers.

Sorry for being a meany pants!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Flower Basket Shawl on: December 26, 2007 03:23:08 PM
This is a free pattern out there on the web - the yarn was purchased at a knitter's guild marketplace, it's 550 yards of hand-painted merino.

I added about 4 repeats of the lower pattern, in order to use up all the wool - and once I cast off, I had about 5 yards left.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first pair of socks! on: December 23, 2007 03:02:32 PM
ok, this is too cool.  those of you who know me know that i can knit pretty much anything.

except socks.  i've had this really stupid phobia about knitting socks.

then Annchen sent me just the push I needed to try it - she sent me this amazing self-patterning yarn, and enough instructions to give me the courage to try it.

so now, I present my very first pair of socks that I made myself!

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Allete from Knitty.com on: December 02, 2007 06:14:18 AM
I finally finished this for my 4-year old niece for xmas/hannukkah

pattern is on knitty.com, i made it in the dusty purple vanna's choice acrylic.

for the span, I got 18-gauge floral wire, and taped 2 sets of 3 (to keep them from poking out the sides), and then overlapped them till I got the right length.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Over 30, Under 30 Swap? on: November 15, 2007 02:40:17 PM
I'm in the 'older' crew - that's the over 30, though in my case, it's well over 40 as well.  So I was thinking a swap for 30 and olders, (that's the over 30 part), with no more than 30 people (that's the under 30 part) - and my thought was that you only craft 1 large item - something your partner really wants (wists, wishlists, or questionnaire) - that you know you do really well....

Does this sound like a swap that other 30 and overs might like?  I'm sort of testing the waters here........

I'm thinking for after the holiday madness, probably sign ups in January with a send out of valentine's day or so?
