3  We make sense cross stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by LauraCore on: June 29, 2009 07:42:28 PM
Hello my lovelies!

I just finished this cross stitch today. This is my second cross stitch ever and I was happy to find it easy, fast and wonderful.

Sorry for the poor photo quality. I finished the piece off by finding an old wood frame painting it gray and adding a bit of trim.

Here is my inspiration piece from a talented artist.

4  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by LauraCore on: June 28, 2008 11:31:21 PM
There is a lot of beautiful body art here. It has been really inspiring to look though at other people's tattoos.

So here is mine. The words say "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt" which is from Slaughterhouse 5 by Vonnegut and it also appears in the Breakfast of Champions by the same author. This quote just has a lot of meaning for me. The font was custom by my artist.

I am wearing a dress in these photos, I swear! haha.

Tisteeni sent me a wonderful second package about a week ago but this is the first I've had the time to upload pictures. Sorry my crafty friend!

Here is what she sent!

The letter and some postcards

Two picture frames she painted and decorated with shells, two rose candles ( they smell sooooo good! yummy!), and a chocolate bar. I think something weird happened to the chocolate during shipping because half of it was like...missing. hahaha THAT POSTAL CARRIER ATE MY CHOCOLATE!

A black purse with a lovely bunch of buttons (I love buttons!). It says "I am woman." I believe she free handed the painting which rocks because it is so good. I'm taking it to my feminist confrenence in June, everyone will be jealous!

This is a box and a fortune teller she got in China Town. It had a bunch of buttons in it. :-)

And drumroll please for my favorite item.

These are so beautiful. I put them on right away. I never wear earrings but she must have known I needed a pair because I just bought a brown dress for a wedding and was on my way to find some jewlery when I got this package. Seriously, this is the best swap ever. I love you tisteeni!!!

7  Re: Feminists are Awesome Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by LauraCore on: March 30, 2008 07:22:22 PM
Oh Steelmags! I'm sorry, I haven't had time to update recently. I have been sick and I went out of town the day I recieved so I basically opened it up freaked out about how awesome it all was, took pictures, and then left! So now that I am home and awake here is the package.

Heres the loot all wrapped up!

A set of iron-on feminist symbols, shrinky-dink earrings!, and a "card carrying feminist" card

Awesome and beautiful coasters!

Etched glass candle! How did she know I loved lilac?

Feminist qoute/scrapbook. This is probably my favorite thing. It is really inspiring and cute.

Feminist t-shirt I love love love the stencil!

Oh steelmags, you have spoiled me completely. I love love love the package. Congrats on finishing your first (hopefully not last!) swap! You are a true feminist delight. Thanks!!!!!!!! Grin

I recieved from Tisteeni!!!! I love this girl! We have more in common than I have imagined and her package was so nice. My pictures do not come close to making them look good. First off the box smelled so good and everything was wrapped and labled. It was like a treasure hunt in a box!
The box!

The mass of the loot

She sent me worry dolls, mardi gras beads (Naughty!) which are already in my car haha, a paper flower, chopsticks, BUTTONS!, magnets for school, and a giant sucker.

Here is more!

A book about charm which makes me laugh at every page. I mean is it 1945? A beautiful bookmark. How did she know I was a book abuser! I will not dog ear the books! And wine glass markers (I love them!)

She also made these great lilac flower magnets!

This is a handmade journal with real flowers

And here is a sign that she made as a demo for her work with art students. This baby is going in my office at school!

Thanks again Tisteeni!  Grin

9  Glass City Ohio Vase in CHALLENGE 25 ENTRIES by LauraCore on: March 05, 2008 10:41:03 AM
Alright fellow crafters. This is my first challenge entry as well as my first attempt at stenciling and glass etching. Impressive no?

Well, let me get to it. I live in Toledo Ohio. Toledo is known as the Glass city because we are leaders in making glass. We are home to several glass factories including Libbey Glass (which is where I got this vase). I don't particularly enjoy living here because of current economy problems and the lack of interesting night spots. However, as I get nearer and nearer to leaving the city I am realizing that hometowns are important. That old adage "Home is where the heart is" I suppose rings true in some case. I wanted to create something that I could proudly display anywhere I might live in the future and think of home when I do. So here is a vase that I made to pay tribute to The Glass City, Toledo Ohio.

Empty.

Action shot, full of Carnations. I was looking for Red ones (ohio's flower) but they didnt have any!

10  Re: Disposable Camera Swap Round 3 - GALLERIA! :) in The Swap Gallery by LauraCore on: November 30, 2007 09:51:22 PM
Alright so I've got a handle on that scanner of mine. I'm going to post a few up here and link you to the album in my photobucket. My swap partner was Maccalkv. She is lovely, simply lovely. She sent me loads of zines, and stickers...feminist stickers (!!!) to account for her lack of time to make a frame. I am so pleased!  Grin

Here are the pictures she took.
My favorite first:

Her and a friend

She Said she was just tasting wine but this looks like a lot for just a taste haha

Her Cat!

And here is the link to my album in photobucket for the rest http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i172/lauracore_2006/Camera%20Swap/
