551  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Amy Butler Weekender Bag on: July 21, 2007 12:25:44 PM
awesome work! i love amy butler's bags and fabrics, but sometimes i think her patterns can be a little difficult to follow...the girls at my quilt shop help me substitute all of her timtex for decobond, etc. so i can make it easier on myself.

i've made amy's betty shopper and i've had my eye on this bag for a long time, but i've been a little intimidated by it. you have inspired me to tackle it - thanks!

congrats on getting recognition for your work!!

excellent bag! i would love the directions. you said you're interested in selling them...let someone in your family carry it to work with them. people will ask about it and your family member will tell them you made it. then they'll ask if you sell them. that's what happened with me...i made a bag for my aunt and now the ladies at the bank she works with ask all the time if i've got anything to sell. i also teach school and people at work will see my bags and ask me if i'll make things for them (they pay me). also, find local craft shows and team up with another girlfriend who crafts so it isn't so expensive to get a table. it could be a fun afternoon.
