hi, just wanted to show you my first quilt, it's just a simple baby quilt I designed myself using strips of Freshcut fabric. The binding took forever, is there a trick to it or does everything just do it by hand too?

I made a hat for my DH using the Turn a Square pattern by Brooklyn Tweed. I used Noro Cash Iroha andf Rowan Pure Wool Aran. I also made a matching hat for my baby and I think they turned out pretty good


I basically reduced the pattern by 1/3 to make the baby version, my son is 6 months and it fits him perfectly. There's a bit more info on my blog, but pattern notes as follows:
CO 64 st with smaller needles and knit in 2×2 rib for 1″ (or as long as you like).

Knit one row in stocking stitch, increasing by 8 stitches, then continue as per pattern, alternating stripes, until hat measures 3.5″.

K18, pm across round.

Decrease as set in pattern.

hi, i want to make some makeup bags but i'm not sure which type of fabric would be best. Something which is light but waterproof/stainproof - any suggestions? thanks

just wondering, how do you embroider on silk habotai without tearing or snagging the fabric? do you have to use a backing fabric with it? i'm planning to do a freehand embroidery triptych on silk and would be grateful for any tips

I just love the cardigan she's wearing on the inside back cover - the tweedy moss-stitch one..does anyone know if she's going to release this pattern? it is such a perfect knit for the season...

does anyone make singles using their drop spindle? How do you set the yarn to stop it turning back to roving? i'm an absolute newbie but would love some help on this! thanks
