201  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: For regular mall-goers... on: January 04, 2007 10:36:06 PM
Haha. My family and I are big on this. We went on a trip from about San Diego California to San Fransisco CA and found a TON of change and small bills. The whole trip (which was about 3 days) we'd get out to strech legs and hear "OMG LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND!." Buttons, rings, earrings, notes, boxes...
We stopped off of the I 5 to 'whale watch' and found $5 in quarters and dimes.
If Im not mistaken, we found about $40 in change between the 5 of us.

We even had a chance to stop at a lighthouse (a rare thing for people in CA to see) and we saw an old phone booth with the rotary phone. It still worked. The best part was when my 12 year old sister asked "Um, what is that thing?"  Oh how I love explaining the 'old days' to someone only 10 years younger than me.  =D

((I know that had nothing to do with the thread but I thougt Id share))
202  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Recipie for Shaving Cream? on: December 31, 2006 11:39:16 PM
My big problem is also dryness (southern California has the weirdest weather. Humid one day, dry the next). I also have sensitive skin. A doctor once told me not to shave for the entire winter if nicks and cuts that bad would be the result.

I use a *light* application of baby oil (just enough to make the skin shiny) and go about my business (get ready for the shower, throw my laundry in the wash) for a half hour or so (to moisturize and soften the skin).
Then, when I'm in the shower, I use warm water and a body wash I get from Target. It's for dry/sensitive skin. A green bottle of Cucumber and I forget if it's green tea, aloe or melon. Anyway, I exfoliate with a loofah and then use the same body wash as a soap. It's about $2.50 American and the bottle is BIG so it lasts a long time.

I hope my rambling helped.

206  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / help from new mommies on: November 30, 2006 10:44:12 PM
Soooo.... my friend is having a baby girl and I want to make her these adorable booties... for the baby that it.

I don't know what size to make the booties for the baby. I was wondering if any of you new mommies can perhaps measure the length of your baby's foot so I can get an average foot size of a new born baby.
Am I making things too difficult??       I'm going to make the bootie for a baby size 3 months anyhow, but is that still going to be too small?  I'm just making sure and I'm covering my behind.

I know we're all crafty ladies. We all have a tape measure around.

Thank you for being patient with me.

Shocked
Speaking of, if you can get to JoAnns on December 2nd or 3rd, their Simplicity patterns are 5 for $5. A great day to stock up and see what works for you. I suggest that you go to simplicity.com and see what you like before you go in so you can pick up the patterns with an idea in mind. Also, please please PLEASE take your measurments before you go. You'd think that a size 18 would be the same between a pattern and an actual garment. Not for everyone.

Hope this helps
208  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / New to this topic. Pomegranate ideas anyone??? on: November 29, 2006 03:42:58 PM
Huh   Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh My kitchen floor looks like I got in a bloody fight... that's not the point.

I used my citrus juicer to extract pomegranate juice . It works really well. I wanted the juice so I can add it to iced green tea. The problem is that the process leaves a lot of pulp. I have maybe 4 cups of pulp.
I really don't want to toss it, but is there anything I can use it for??
I was thinking about blending it with a bit if the juice and making a cake, but I didn't want to leave any of the bits of seed in the cake. Will this work? Any ideas??

Help, anyone??

Comments appreciated

Hot Topic has those awesome sales a lot  .  I love a good sale. Usually it's the Friday of  holiday weekends like Memorial day, Thanksgiving and Easter...  Torrid does too. It's a subsidiary of HT and they have really cute clothes with awesome recon potential.

Aaaaaaand... Isn't that book just the BEST. I bought it at Michael's Yesterday and have revamped 4 shirts. I love it.
