1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / first infinity dress! on: June 16, 2008 06:58:36 PM
well now. this is interesting. I was SO excited to make my first infinity dress (using http://rowena.typepad.com/rostitchery/infinity-dress.html this ever-so-lovely tutorial) and then my first try I had A Moment and cut my skirt all wrong. so my second try was better, but there are two things still: the straps are a bit short, so my options are limited, and I had to add an extra piece because with the ... large chest area ... it was really quite revealing. because of these two things, I think I'll just end up giving this one to someone who's not quite as ... gifted ... and see if it fits them better [also, this is just an excuse to make myself another one with SUPER long straps]

but for a first try, I think it went alright.

let me know what you think!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Skirts, skirts, skirts and a jumper (img heavy) on: April 13, 2007 01:55:18 PM
yayyy ok. these first two are just circle skirts with stretchy knit material for the waistbands. they're both REALLY REALLY COMFY

these next were... "inspired by" (and pretty much copied from) RaenasDDR - i hope she doesn't mind! the link to hers (which is unbelievably adorable) is here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=163150.0 only mine don't have working buttons or button holes, and again waistband is stretchy knit material (my favorite... so comfy...)

the fronts:

the backs: (even though they look the same)

and the last one is a jumper using Giggles' tutorial for the most part, minus the working button holes. her link is here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=162757.0 (i hope she doesn't mind either. i give them both complete credit for these ideas)

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Skirt... which reminds me of The Shins... on: January 27, 2007 04:53:06 PM
yeah so i really don't know why but this material reminds me of the shins. i love the shins. moving on... haha yeah so my 18 year old brother and his friend told me that it was hideous and deformed. so i need a ... another (i can't really say "a second" when i'm hoping for more than one) opinion. so what do YOU think.

please. be honest...

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / POLKADOTTED black/white party dress on: January 23, 2007 02:55:21 PM
wow that was a mouthful. ok so my friend had this 16th birthday party with two other people who i ... don't really know... and it was a black and white party (and they wore green - the 3 girls whose birthdays it was) and i made this dress for it. and it was this past saturday, i had just forgetten to upload pictures until i saw a dress on here from VERY similar material. it made me laugh. <-- haha i just reread that, and not in a bad way! it made me laugh b/c i thought the coincidence was funny, the dress was really pretty. haha sorry if you ... thought the other...

anyway, pictures!

this is the dress... just the front

here's the back

some close-ups

me in it...

my sister doing my hair... haha (as i talked to her friend on the phone, b/c she had been the one who was going to do it originally)

and that's all! yyaayy Grin

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / MITTENS, anyone? on: December 09, 2006 03:13:19 PM
Well, here they are. All of the mittens I made (except two) for all my friends for christmas this year. I tried to make the pics small b/c there's so many of them, but let me know if I should make one or two bigger if you can't see them that well. Here they are! Hope you like! Grin

Each took me about an hour to make, and I'd say cost about 5$ total. What do you think!?
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / STRIPED HOODIE!! on: November 05, 2006 07:29:02 PM
Ok, I used to love this shirt, but it got too small, as you can see... so this is what I did!

some issues are that the pockets are crooked and the zipper stops about 6 inches from the top, but if i leave it zipped like in the pictures, i don't think it's too obvious. I LOVE IT!

what do you think?

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ralph hat! Or not so Ralph? on: November 05, 2006 07:27:03 PM
So for english class, I have to dress up as Ralph from Lord of the Flies for reasons that... are stupid (we're "putting human nature on trial" and I'm Ralph, pretty much.) So for my first idea for a costume, it involved a newsboy cap that I didn't have. Eventually I realized that ralph doesn't wear a hat, but I wanted to make it anyway...

I used Simplicity 4030 as mentioned in this thread http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=129600.0

So, what do you think? Should I wear it or not (as Ralph)? I would attempt to put my hair up into it so I looked more like a boy, but in general, do you think I could make it look stranded-desert-island-WWI-english-boy looking?

thanks,
Meg

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Two Messeger Type Bags! Img Heavy! on: October 25, 2006 05:44:59 PM
Ok, so the purpleish one I made a long time ago (April?) and loved it so much I had to make another! It's adapted from this pattern that I ... don't remember what it is, but if you wanted to know I could go find it, I know where it is.

What do you think?

ps. you can find the thread on the shirt i'm wearing here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=129328.0 in clothing (my usual "place of business") this is my first time posting in bags! haha thanks for looking

feedback is appreciated!

thanks
Megan
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Floral/Mosaic Print Shirt! *Now with tutorial* on: October 25, 2006 03:09:57 PM
Ok, so... yeah. haha i was inspired by this http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=13314&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=9&iSubCat=1490&previous=1 and then i messed up the back. (but i love the front!) i still have to sew a few hems down so they stop popping up, and it was... an interesting process. haha i don't even really know what i did. i'm going to fix the back to move the straps farther apart and more gathered, but here it is!

feedback is greatly appreciated

thanks!
Meg

EDIT: this is the new back. you can see that the front didn't really change.

(this pic isn't to show that i haven't shaved in a while, it's to show that under the armpit it kind of dips down.)

And! dun dun dun! What you've been asking for!

THE TUTORIAL!

alrighty now. I think i had like... a yard and a quarter or so of fabric (i'm not sure, it was a remnant.) but... just guess. you don't need a ton.

ok so can you see this writing? long story short it's through the back of the paper. hope you can see it.

cut out your material [the writing on this paper says "under bust measure +2 in." "from under bust to bottom of shirt" "hipish measure(where you want it to fall)" "cut more on dotted line: bust measurement to under bust measure" "strap length: about 14-16 in. for me" "about 5 and 1/2 in."]

join seams on big chunck and bust chunck

gather big chunck in two places at top if you want, like shown on my shirt (under bust)

cut and attach straps. where the join the shirt is gathered.

[the writing here says: "pin on straps here" "Pin smaller than strap" "my attempt to show that straps are gathered"]

does this make sense?

feel free to ask any questions

you guys better make it  Grin

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Simple Sparkly Square Skirt on: October 15, 2006 05:22:22 PM
So I made this for a friend. Just two sqaure skirts on top of each other. It was really simple,, even though I didn't allow enough material for the waistband so I had to make that seperately. I would put it on for the pics, but she's WAY skinnier than me and I can barely even fit it on.
What do you think?
