1  Re: SNBHH crochetalong in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by owly on: October 01, 2007 12:36:41 AM
I just logged in to update this thread! I got wretchedly sunburnt yesterday, so I spent today moping on the lounge watching Studio Ghibli films and doing my frou-frou. It is feeling lovely, but chewing through the yarn - I'm on my 6th ball of these tiny short balls!

This is the page for it http://www.flickr.com/photos/29144431@N00/1467094302/ if you want to see it bigger. Though I don't imagine anyone would.

I finished my hippo. I'm really unhappy with him. I ran out of yarn for feet, and then I sewed him up wonky, and all round he is really lopsided and ugly. I think he might be a new friend for my chihuahua, rather than a gift for a friend.

(his page on flickr is http://www.flickr.com/photos/29144431@N00/1467094310/ if you want to see a bigger pic!)

Zero Cool, your stuff looks...well, cool! I love the corset belt.

I have a cupcake-update from down under...I finished the front last night, pinned it to the back (which was in a different size), it seemed to work, so I sewed them together and they look okay! I'm astounded. And it seems I probably didn't need the extra ease of the next size up.

So I am working on the sleeves today and tomorrow and will hopefully have a finished garment next week. I've come up with a plan...mark a paper, do a row, mark a paper, do a row, mark a paper...

I read through the pattern for Frou Frou last night, and the instructions for the cuffs on p.215 stumped me. How do you draw up a loop? Definitely not using Rowan for it, either. It's about 30 bucks a ball down here!

Update - I finished my Cupcake! (That link is to the flickr photopage, but you can see the photo below!) I'm horrified at how badly it photographs, because it looks great in the mirror Smiley

4  Mauritius Dodo in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by owly on: September 11, 2007 12:51:38 AM
I made the Mauritius Dodo from CrochetMe! He was very easy to make, and took only a tiny amount of leftover yarn.

I made the dodo with 8ply/DK yarn and a 4mm hook (I know I should have gone tighter, but he looks okay!) He is my second ami ever.
