21  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: which clay? any advice? on: June 15, 2008 04:20:35 AM
I would suggest starting with Premo as it usually is not too soft and not too hard.

It might be a good idea to get a bar of each to see what you like best. Have fun!

22  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: How long did it take you to master it? on: June 15, 2008 04:17:29 AM
You do not suck, it is all a learning experience. Keep playing with the clay and you will succeed. It takes time to master anything you do, so don't expect to get everything right the first time, heck I have been working with polymer clay for 19 years and I still don't get everything right.LOL

I am happy to answer any questions you might have. Don't give up, just have fun with it.

Ilysa
23  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Have you tried Studio by Sculpey? on: June 02, 2008 01:16:54 PM
It does get softer the more you work with it. It is good for some things like when you want a piece to stay pointing straight up, it will. It does not slump like the other clays. It has it's uses just like all the other brands. Enjoy!

Ilysa

24  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: what can i do with translucent clay? on: June 02, 2008 01:14:39 PM
You can add glitter and inclusions to the translucent for a really cool effect. You can also use dye ink and pigment ink to color it. You can transfer onto it as well.

25  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sculpting faces help on: June 02, 2008 01:11:57 PM
I am not sure about the person you mentioned sculptures but if you are looking to sculpt figures or faces Maureen Carlson is the Queen of them. http://www.maureencarlson.com
Maureen just came out with these really cool molds that help you make faces, they are very cool and very easy to use and you can make a ton of different faces with just one mold. Have fun!

26  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: help please with cooking times on projects using a mix of different clays... on: June 02, 2008 01:09:11 PM
You do not have to cook it that long. I have been working with polymer clay for 19 years and mostly using Fimo. I have never baked anything more than 45 minutes no matter how thick it is and I have never had a problem. I did not feel that it was any more breakable either. I would fire the mixture of clays at the lower recommended temperature the other clay will be fine just fire it a little longer. Good luck!

Hi Nikki,
I love the purses! Do you sell them anywhere? There are a few I'm interested in and I also always love a good trade if you are into it, I make buttons that would be great with your purses. Let me know. Thanks!

30  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Lots of random questions on: September 23, 2007 11:10:30 AM
Hi,
We show how to make some pendants on our videocasts. You can check them out at http://www.polymerclaytv.com
They are free to watch and learn. You can easily make your own bezels with the clay. Do you have a pasta machine? Pasta machines are great to make flat sheets like the back of a bezel and then you can make a snake or flat piece and wrap around to complete your bezel. You can then embellish it any way you want. I like Premo translucent for the projects I do. This Friday we show how to add composition leaf, gold & silver to the clay. You use them in the translucent clay for a neat effect too.  Have fun!
Regards,
Ilysa
